what is the easiest way to reformat the hard drive on my windows XP computer

I am not a IT tech nor am I am advance user. I have a new computer with microsoft office all set up now. I would like to reformat the hard drive on my old Windows XP computer so when I sell it, no one will be able to get any personal information of mine.
I have the operating system and driver discs that I can use to put the computer back to a operating state for the new user.
Can you help me?

I have ADSL internet. There is no wi-fi in CONTROL PANEL / NETWORK CONNECTIONS. I don't want a wi-fi service, just an ad-hoc(?) connection for the ipod while at home. All the advice i read assumes there is already wi-fi in the control panel / network
connections. What do I need to do?

What happened to the beautiful "Luna" theme windows xp had?!

I have a 60 day trial of windows 7 in a virtual machine gto test it out and to see if I like it, but I can't find a theme that is like windows xp with the blue taskbar and window bars and the red x button and the green start menu is all very colorful but
any of the themes windows 7 has is not. also the control panel arrangement is very confusing. it has been the same since windows 95 to xp I don't know about vista though, and there is no setting to make it look like that again. I can't even get that luna theme
from deviantart to work. windows 7 is advertised to be easy to customise, but from my experience it is not. this is one of the reaons I do not want to upgrade to windows 7. so is there any way I can make windows 7 mre like xp?

I don't think this is possible but is there another way to enable automatic logon with the risk of compromising your security. Only two options I'm aware of is
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315231 or scripting it which basically achieves the same thing.

Also my desk top has a folders bar on it that dosen't belong there; and many of the links won't work---"Control Panel" for example.

Upgrading from Windows XP to Windows 7. What should I know about hardware compatibility?

I am considering upgrading my pc from XP Pro, Pentium 4 dual core at 3 GHz, 2GB DDR RAM to WIndows 7 64Bit.
If I do this, I will be replacing the mobo by Asus M58A78L, processor by AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition and 8GB DDR3 RAM and buying Win7 Pro for the XP mode.
How does XP mode on Win7 compare with an actual XP pc ? Will it pick up and use my hardware, eg. graphics card (GeForce 7950GT), Epson PX720WD.
I assume that I would have to install separate drivers in 7 and XP mode.
I capture video from a VCR through a Conextant cx2388x internal video capture card using Ulead VideoStudio 9. I have not yet found a Win 7 driver for this card, but am prepared to change the card if necessary. Given that I can find the driv
