How can I recover Windows XP without Boot Disk?
location:

I have a Compaq NW8240 with Windows XP Business with Service Pack 3.
The Laptop PC will not boot. It give me the ability to enter BIOS and the hard drive is there and passes BIOS Tests.
I have a CD that allows me limited access to the hard drive (a type of DOS Boot).
All the files are still on the disk. I believe that the boot record is missing or damaged.
I do not have boot disks or recover disk for this notebook PC.
Is there a way to create or download a boot disk that will allow me to correct the problems on my hard drive?

Windows 7 missing from boot list after new installation of XP.
location:

I have two hard drives on this computer, one is running Windows 7. The other has XP Pro on 1 of the 3 partitions. Then I installed a fresh copy of XP on an empty partition, so now I have 2 copies of XP.
Now when I boot, Windows 7 is no longer listed in the options, just the two XPs.
I've tried a few things already. First booted from my Windows 7 installation disk and by SHIFT + F10 entered in the cmd prompt: bootrec /rebuildbcd
Is this supposed to scan all drive partitions and rebuild the boot list? When I typed it it came back as 0 installations of Windows found.
I also tried other boot manager programs, one created a new list to boot from and showed drive letters and other information about the partition, but actually almost got

If you know how to use Nlite and
RyanVM Integrator (which is used for the file below), you can slipstream the cd / SP1-SP3,
And the files here
This file includes everything. IE8, all the net framework files, WMP 11 and its updates. Well. All the updates up to now. This file gets updated monthly ( a few days after the monthly updates come out).
There is also a file (that you can use to remove files (from above file on the above site) Since some of the files (you don't need). Before you create / burn the ISO in Nlite or RyanVM)
But, if you do use Nlite, be aware that if you're slipstreaming XP, you should slipstream it in XP. Or whatever version of Windows you're slipstreaming
Not in another OS (ie: 2000/64 bit). As this can

Hi everyone ! this is my first post. i hope someone can help me with this question..
I've just got a new HP laptop with windows 7 Home Premium.
Anytime Upgraded to Ultimate.
i want to boot to windows XP (SP2) on this new laptop..(Not necessarily Dual-Boot). there is only on program i need to use under XP.
the dual-booting tutorials here are quite in depth and potentially problematic for none techie like me. i would prefer not re-partion the drive and 'hide' one operating system from the other, so what i would prefer to do is this...
1. Plug in an External hard drive (USB 2.0).Clean and factory formatted.
2. Go into my BIOS > Disable boot from internal hard drive > enable boot from CD Drive (first)
3. Exit BIOS having saved chan
