Windows Anytime Upgrade couldn't create a restore point??
location:
7forums.com - date:

I have done thorough research and googled this issue many times but non of the resolutions actually apply to me and never solve my issue. I bought a windows 7 64 bit key but every time i run Windows Anytime Upgrade i get this message and at the bottom it says turn on system restore for the disk that contains your windows installation, it is on but i am unable to create a restore point because i then get this error 'An error was detected in the volume shadow copy service (vss). The problem occurred while trying to contact VSS writers. Verify that the event system and the VSS service are running (which they definitely are, they're both running and startup is automatic) and check for associated errors in the event logs. (0x80042318)

System Restore - Can't create a restore point. (Win XP SP2)
location:
winsecrets.com - date:
June 1, 2007
I found something that might help someone find what's wrong with SR. I ran - Change Analysis Diagnostic for Windows XP. It said: Message - Warning: The System Restore Helper returned a warning code hr= ox6. I have no idea what the warning means. Perhaps some of you can assist with the explaination, and a fix can be found now that the above information is known.
This is a continuation of another thread on the same subject that has been locked.

How do I create a restore point in Safe mode using Windows 7
location:
microsoft.com - date:
February 27, 2011
I need help restoring my laptop running Windows7 from safe mode. I do not or cannot figure if I have a restore point.
When I open System restore I get a meesage stating " No restore points have been created on your compute's system drive." Ater this message, I get an option of opening System Protection.
When opening system protection I get a Systems properties screen with no clear way or path to creating a system restore point. The first action seems to be renaming your computer and it does not seem to apply to this situation. Can anyone shed some light
on this situation or give useful advice. I have moderate computer skills so paitence is required :)
Thanks
Richard Riddell

Windows 10 do automatic "create restore points" like Win XP did?
location:
winsecrets.com - date:

Anyone know if and how Windows 10 can be set up to do automatic "create restore points" like Win XP used to do?
That what was great about Win XP it would dod a creae restore point each day so if you had a problem you could restore back one day. With Windows 7 and 8 YOU had to manually create the restore point each day or you may be restoring back several weeks or months since you made your last one.
