Does microsoft keep a record of the Pc's MAC address when XP reports an error ?
location:
microsoft.com - date:
October 7, 2012
I am interested to find out about error reporting, but the time in question is in approx 2006-7. I kept sending the error report many times because I knew it should not work.
I used to love to play Colin Mcrae Rally 1 or 2 anyway the one that won't work on XP. I used tp use my video camera to look at the Pc monitor then play the game looking at the TV.
The only information I have now is the MAC address,, XP key and the program that caused the error. My hdd has been forensically wiped and does not work anymore...
Is it possible to complete the 3 step (ticks) error report without the internet?
At that point in time I had no internet or phone....
Just curious if its possible.

Networking Windows 7 to Windows XP - Able to connect via IP address, but not computer name. Why?
location:
microsoft.com - date:
July 29, 2010
One computer is running W7 64-bit, and the other is running XP Pro. If I ping one computer from the other, they can see each other fine. And if I use the IP address, I can access files and print on the XP machine FROM the W7 machine (but not vice-versa).
What I don't understand is, why can't each computer simply access the other using a basic WORKGROUP setup with the computer names? Can anyone help? Just so you know, here are a few things I have already verified:
Both computers have the same workgroup name (WORKGROUP). Both computers have their folders shared so that "everyone" on the network has full access. The Windows firewall is running, but no other. The XP machine connects directly to the internet via an ethernet cable that's plug

Does doing a "diagnose and repair" on my windows home wireless network change my external IP address?
location:
microsoft.com - date:
January 22, 2013
Hi,
I'm trying to work out if my home IP address (not my PC but router I think) changed when I did a "diagnose and repair" on my home network. Windows said it was changing the IP address to solve the problem, but would this have changed my IP address with my ISP
or just the IP address between my PC and my router? Unfortunately I have moved house and do not own this PC anymore so cannot test to see if it works.
Also, with a dynamic but "sticky" IP address, if the router was turned off for a week and turned back on, would I likely have a new IP address? My ISP provider (02) says that 99% chance it would of changed if router was left off for more than 48 hours. Does
this sound correct or is it much more likely I would get same IP aga
