Long delay between Windows XP Logo and Login Screen

I have several domain machines that have a long delay from when the Windows XP logo appears to the login prompt. This delay last from 3-8 minutes. If i re-image the machine they work fine. How can I find what is causing this delay. There is nothing
appearant to me that is causing this.

Cannot access System BIOS from a Windows XP Pro laptop, since it is secured by an unknown Administrator Password.

I purchased a Compaq Presario X1000 laptop from Goodwill Industries. It has Windows XP Pro installed and is secured by an unknown Administrator Password. When I try to access System BIOS at startup, it asks for the administrator password and denies access. How
can I remove this password and get to the BIOS settings? Everything I have tried so far has failed. Please advise.

No CD Playback (Windows XP)

I burned an Audio CD from my MP3 files, on the RealOne CD Burner.........every thing worked fine, and seemed to be working normal, until playback... there was none, not on the computer or any other CD player. Well I bought a Roxio Easy CD Creator 5, Platinum. Same problem. I re installed the Roxio, according to their instructions, re installed Windows XP, still no playback. I am a newbie to computers and it is very possible that I hit a button somewhere and deleted something, or changed something unknowingly. Can some one help........ PLEASE ?

The Password Reset Disk tip in the Vol 3 No.17 issue is great! But I'm wondering... is the disk you create specific to the computer you created the disk on? That is, can the disk be used on any Windows XP PC or only the specific PC where it originated?

I forgot my user name and password to log on to windows xp. After a power surge I now have to log on before windows will install. How can I do that?

I have tried inserting every user name and password combos that I can think of but nothing has worked. I have tried bypassing the sign-on screen but windows doesn't install and only the screensaver appears.

I am using LG CRT Monitor with Model No. LG Studioworks 700E and recently upgraded my computer from WIndows XP to WIndows 8, facing display issues

however everything is upgraded except keyboard, mouse and monitor, however all are working fine, only the monitor which shows the screen very big, whichever we try to use and nothing is fitting to the screen and all the page or anything that we see in
the screen are big and need to scroll towards the left and right corners to see the information, need a positive answer to fix this display issue. I have already updated display drivers and no help.

IE7 Upgrade : Yes or No? (Windows XP SP2)

I would appreciate some Loungers' recommendations on whether or not to upgrade to IE7. I've been reading through some of the IE7 posts in this forum and see loads of problems. IE6 seems to be working fine for me so I wondered if it's better just to stay with it until more bugs have been worked out.

No Desktop Icons--Windows Xp

Windows XP loads, but nothing appears on my desk top screen. Task tray, short cut icons start button, etc.. does not load. I have McAffee security installed. Have tried to start in Safe Mode, but results are the same. Any help would be appreciated.
