You're still talking about something different pseudoid, though it does indeed make it easier, I have mine integrated into the context menu; never happens without my call though.
As far as UAC goes, first or second thing I disable, nothing but a nuisance to me. So backhauling that to XP, only reason to stop using it as far as malware is concerned is if you have a history of getting malware. It's plenty secure behind a router otherwise. In other words, XP will sit there connected to the Internet for Eternity and not get infected; a user can continue that trend or hit it like the tidal wave that struck Japan. The user is the overwhelming deciding factor but I fear that will always fall on mostly deaf ears since we want to think in terms of s

Operatin systems; windows xp vs 7 vs 8 , and gpl too ?

Ok I'm tryin 8, been usin 7...they both work ok , are popular, lots of software...but on noting i got 8 32-bit instead of 8 64-bit by accident, did note i'm again using gpl software by 'feature list comparison' despite ms getting billions of dollars and ubuntu almost nothing in comparison including all other gpl authors...
7zip is another one I use 'gpl irrelevantly' , and am kinda torn on gimp vs. photoshop...i'm used to one, but it's a patent monopoly right ? is why there aren't tons of those '2d image editors' like how there's tons of 'wolfenstein 3d clones ?' and operating system clones too, ms was permitted to make an os, and others were allowed to too, they even sold their code to ibm who then made.... os/2 , just like windows, exce

How do I join a Windows XP computer to a Win7 homegroup?
location:
7forums.com - date:
January 22, 2012
Or how do I just make the XP box know about the Windows 7 box? They're both fed from the same router so should have IP addresses in the same group - but although the Windows 7 PC can see the XP PC, it doesn't work the other way around.
AFAICT the only place (in XP) where I can view other computers is in my XP workgroup. But Windows 7 uses homegroups which don't seem to be quite the same thing. A workgroup seems to have a name but no password whereas a homegroup seems to have a password but no name.
What am I missing here...?

Windows 8 Login Screen - Mouse/Keyboard Stop Working
location:
microsoft.com - date:

I was on my computer when I got a BSOD on Windows 8 -- It restarted and when it's booting my keyboard lights up, and my mouse. Once I get to the welcome screen both turn off and stop working. I've enabled USB Legacy support in the BIOS and I've also tried
every one of my USB ports. I do not have a PS2 port so that is not an option. I've tried doing Shift + F8 during boot to get to the recovery console and no luck there either. This is really frustrating.
