Windows 7 doesn't recognize online backup files from windows xp. How do I get them back?
location:

I did backup online through McAfee from my pc with xp. During a storm, it crashed and I had to buy a new pc with windows 7. I restored the online backup and now the new pc doesn't recognize those files. There were jpegs, word and works documents and music
files. Everything except bitmaps are showing up as thumb database files. What can I do to get them back?

Re-installed Windows XP, How do I update the service packs?
location:
microsoft.com - date:
July 10, 2012
I had a computer boot issue and had to re-install Windows XP. I went to the download site (automatic update no longer active) and it advises the 3 service pack updates must be installed in order. When I attempt to install the initial service pack, it aborts
the installation process saying the server is not responding.
How can update Windows XP to SP3?
Or is this no longer possible?

When ever I use the playback on my computer, it will play, and then suddenly cut off. If I bring up "Monitor Out" and just lightly touch the wave fader slide, it immediately springs to life, and continues for a few seconds more, and does it again, When I
"first" bring up the board that displays these fader slide controls on the monitor screen, the one that says " Monitor Out, Wave,Swsynth, and CDplayer, the Wave is always at the off position, until you slide the Wave fader knob up. It always drops to the off
position until I play another song, and it does it again! This is truly aggravating, Help!!!!

Windows XP denied downloading of many programs, Reason: administrator's password
location:
microsoft.com - date:
December 25, 2012
Don't ever remember setting up an administrator password, but whether part of the OS, my desktop (WINDOWS XP) will download but not install many programs pending my supplying the
administrator's password (if not the admin's user name). Admittedly
computer semi-literate and when do something I'm not sure about, can often make it worse.
Looking for a step by step (hopefully with visual aids) way of disabling the
administrator or changing to a password I know. very frustrating because trying to download programs to improve the computer's operation, but am prevented.
Help!
Merry Christmas to all.
and to all a good night.
