I have reinstalled Windows XP Home on my Desktop.After that whenever  go for Windows Update it gives the message " The website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page you are trying to view." and updates are not taking place. Earlier I was getting automatic updates.

The auto update led me in circles the screen I got was leading me back to the update button and saying it was installing the update. I have been trying to download this stubborn Update for over a year now with NO LUCK. I have searched for answers on all Microsoft Sites with the question with NO LUCK! PLEASE, Will someone tell me either how to download this update or what was the previous update is that needed to be installed before the (KB973768)  I am running Windows Xp Home edition 32 Bit..with Windows Media Center on Windows 8. windows XP Home 2002 SP3, no administrative tools, Microsoft Updates will not update automatically

recently had some problems with my computer, I think some how I deleted my administrative tools shortcuts. When I try to get on to Microsoft Updates I get an error telling me to enable user persistance, when I go into my internet options this is already enabled. When I click onto my Administrative Tools I have NO shortcuts to anything. I believe there should be 5 or 6 programs in this section. I have tried to restore my computer with no luck. My restore doesn't work either.

I did a system recovery on an older laptop with Windows XP version 5.1 S.P.1 & of course I.E. 6. Im connecting to the internet VIA a USB wireless adapter. My home page will load & then I.E. closes. I used this same set up before the recovery with no problems Im guessing it's due to the fact I can't seem to update Windows. I keep getting error msgs. If anyone can tell me how to get this version of Windows up to date I would greatly appreciate it.

I have a windows xp home edition 2003 service pack 1 with a net framework of 1.1 and can no longer get automactic updates how can i get the net framework updates along with the service pack updates? I have tried to update to service pack 2 but it will not download it tells me that it has timed out without completeing the download. how do I get the downloads that i need if they will not complete? I have asked 4 different questions and they all send my back to the same site which will not complete the download I did read something about using floppy disk to do this but can not find the site again. Please help!

Windows Update doesn't work (Windows XP Home Ed.)

I have 3 PC's - one on 2000 and another on XP pro and those get windows update fine. But my laptop is on XP home edition and when I click on Windows Update, I get that message about "only windows operating systems can use this update." I did get the blaster patch and fix previously and ran them, so I don't know why I'm getting this. Anyway, I want to get the new security patch or just run update, but I can't find where to download the exe. Anyone know what I need to do? Thanks.
