The software I want to run was created with the old microsoft version 6 C compiler. I am mainly going to a laptop to avoid printing selected results from the program to have access to the full range of data available live on the laptop. Not to mention
avoiding the over priced ink cartridges.

I just came across this information and thought it was something that should be posted as an FYI item. Not many, other than advanced users, use the command line in XP but it's a useful tool and a basic understanding of the tools at your disposal is always helpful. To that end ......http://www.ss64.com/nt/

WinZip Command Line Processor and Windows 8
location:
winsecrets.com - date:
January 29, 2013
WinZip is trying to con me into upgrading from 15.5 to 17 saying that my WinZip Command Line Processeor 3.2 will not run on Windows 8. I'm a little pissed at WinZip putting out new versions every year or so and I only really need the Command Line Processor, especially for it's ability to do incremental backups so easily. Anyone using the Command Line Processor on Window 8 and is it running OK? And, less importantly, can I run WinZip 15.5 on Windows 8?

Window and Text size in Command Prompt, Windows XP Mode
location:

Anybody know how to change the text size in Windows XP Mode at the command prompt? I've tried right clicking on the DOS shortcut that I set up and changing it there, but it doesn't do anything.
Also, I've set it to Full Screen, but everytime I execute a program, it shrinks to a smaller window. Has anyone encountered that? Any fixes to force it to remain full screen?

How to edit command line in shortcuts for .exe
location:

I want to edit a command line in my Quake4 .exe shortcut so I can enable an ingame singleplayer cheat console but I am not sure how to do this... am really new with computers.
Cheat: Cheats List
Create a shortcut to the Quake4 executable and edit the shortcut's command line with the suffix +set com_allowConsole 1 to enable the console. Note if the command line uses quotations, add the suffix outside of the quotes.
Can anyone explain to me how I do this?
I have been editing the target line under properties of shortcut but keep getting an error saying that it is invalid.
