Windows 8 Features: The Windows 8 Device Manager
location:
winsecrets.com - date:
November 17, 2012
Is designed to show all of your "phantom devices" now by default, as opposed to
prior operating systems requiring the "devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices" tweak to be able to see them.

That appears to be the only thing new with
the Device Manager interface.

My Belkin mini bluetooth F8T016 dongle is non-functional (the blue light will not light up). Windows 8 does not see it as being a Bluetooth but as a HID USB device mouse/keyboard. Any help in getting Windows to recognize this device would be appricated.

No Devices in XP Device Manager (XP SP2)
location:
winsecrets.com - date:
March 28, 2008
On a friend's computer today I came across something I've never encountered -- the Device Manager listed NOTHING for the system in question. No, I don't mean that the top-level entry hadn't been expanded; it was missing along with everything else.
What would have caused such a condition? And how can it be fixed?
Thanks in advance!

Windows XP task manager does not show process image names
location:
microsoft.com - date:
May 25, 2013
I'm running Windows XP with SP3. In Task Manager, the process image names are not shown and in the column chooser the process image name, though ticked, is greyed out. I only have the PID numbers. So, I can't tell what processes are running. There are
57 processes running, which seems like too many. I have tried running "tasklist > tasklist.txt"
from the command prompt, but it just flashes and nothing happens. Does this mean I have a trojan? What can I do about it?

Windows mobile device manager-"not connected" help!
location:

I'm having a lot of trouble connecting my PDA. I used to have a decent connection with WMDM on both 7 and vista, but now it's starting to show "not connected" constantly. It's become worse on vista. Anyone know how to help? I'm trying to get my PDA HP ipaq HX2795 connected. I have two of them, and both give me troubles. Thanks!

Western Digital External Hard Drive not Recognized by Windows XP: Does not show up in My Computer or Device Manager.
location:
microsoft.com - date:
May 13, 2010
My external hard drive does not run automatically when plugged into my USB port on my computer. It is not recognized in my computer and it does not show up in Device Manager. I have applied a hot fix for this problem and it was stated that problems are
detected but after applying the hot fix the problem still exits! HELP. I went to Western Digital for this problem and they stated in their FAQ's that it is a Windows problem and that the drivers might be corrupted. This is probably true as the device works
perfectly on other computers. Now what do I do?
