Cannot open device manager, mmc.exe not found. Windows XP
location:

December 22, 2010
Trying to install a program and they tell me to open device manager and update driver. When I click on device manager I get an error saying "windows cannot find mmc.exe". What do I need to do. Reloadind in not an option, I do not have the disk that did
not come with my system. Running Windows XP, Media Canter Edition, Version 2002, SP3. Any help would be great. I can get around but still a novice.

Windows XP Activation Window Does Not Start / Open
location:
microsoft.com - date:
November 10, 2009
I recently upgraded my computer (New motherboard, cpu, ram, etc. ). I tried switching my hard drive over from the old machine to the new one and running a repair installation of Windows XP Pro. Everything seems to work fine, but it tells me that I need
to activate windows and only have 3 days to do so. When I click on Activate windows (or run oobe/msoobe /a) from the Run window, the machine thinks for a second, but doesn't start the activation window. This is a non-OEM version of XP. Can anyone help?
Thanks,
Marc

Movie Maker (Windows XP SP3) crashes everytime I open it
location:
microsoft.com - date:
March 6, 2010
I already have Windows XP SP3 installed and yet when I try to open Windows Movie Maker it would just crash right away. It would always show this:
http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=j806zd&s=6
"Windows Movie Maker has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience"
I would always choose either "Don't Send" or "Send Error Report", but nothing has changed. It's been like this for a year now. It's very frustrating. I've already checked for updates and had some of them, that I think are necessary, already updated. I read
somewhere that Windows Movie Maker would still work in Windows XP SP3 , but I guess not in my computer. I really don't know what's happening. Please, I need help.

why does windows xp take so long to open my music folder?
location:
microsoft.com - date:
September 2, 2012
My music folder is on my external drive. It contains 22,000 mp3s on a 1.5 terrabyte unit, arranged in artist-named folders e.g. 1 folder marked 'Beatles' containing 24 albums, and so on. For some reason, Windows XP has great trouble opening the Music folder.
It just took 141 seconds, by which time I felt like throwing my laptop out the window, if you'll forgive the pun. It also does the same thing if I go into one of the artist folders then come back out to the main folder.

When I try to open the Add/Remove Programs tool in Windows XP, it does not open. The window appears briefly, but then it disappears and I do not receive an error message.
My system is current with latest anti virus scans clear.
Have I lost some registry entries?
Unfortunately System Restore has not helped.
Grateful for your advice.
