Original title: Windows 7 will not boot.
Windows 7 wont boot on my laptop anymore. Ran startup repair from my recovery disk. The report said - Root cause found No OS files found on disk. Repair Action: Partition Table Error. Result : Failed. Error Code = 0x490. Does this mean I need to get
a Windows 7 disk and re-install it or is there more to do?

Original title : Windows 7 Pro SP1 (KB976932) repeatedly fails to install...

what happens EVERY TIME: it downloads seemingly fine and begins to restart. Before it restarts, the screen states that it is installing SP1 and gets to 11%, then restarts. Then the screen states that it is configuring my computer and again reaches that magic
11% completed, and then fails. Then restarts again, reverting the changes that WERE NOT MADE! EVERY TIME the same thing. And it's making me want t

Windows 7 Service Pack 1, error 0x80070643
location:
7forums.com - date:
February 15, 2014
Hi, I have been trying to install the Windows 7 SP1, unsuccessfully, for most of a week now. The update does not appear in my Windows Update program, so I used the online version on Microsoft.com. The update installs correctly, but after restarting and beginning the "configuring windows" process, it only reaches about 50% before it states that there has been a fatal error and reverts the changes. It goes into a mini-loop where it configures and then reverts several times, before finally restarting with all changes reverted. I always get error code 80070643. I followed all the directions for this error on Microsoft.com, including running the System Update Readiness tool (no errors) and the sfc scan (also no errors), disabl

A few weeks ago I tried to upgrade to the free Windows 8.1. I got a message to say it failed to install. My husband complained that he was having problems using the internet and thought the computer might need clearing and defraging. I did the system clear
up. I also remembered my printer had broken so uninstalled all the drivers etc for the printer. I also uninstalled some other programs that I don't use anymore. I then ran windows update which said there were 22 important updates. I then for a message to say
that updates had failed to install. I tried again and for the same message. During the restarts I got 2 different messages first was memory management error then bad pool header. I've googled both error messages and have checked W

Windows Update does not work after a new install of Windows XP SP2
location:
microsoft.com - date:
November 17, 2013
I use to be able to load my Windows XP SP2 on a newly formatted HDD and then click on Windows Update to download all of the updates without a glitch. Not so anymore. I spent the better part of this week trying to get it to work but without success.
Could someone at Microsoft tell us the steps that must be followed now because the ones that used to work no longer do. Obviously something has changed at the Microsoft end that prevents us from updating our new install the way we used to. May I suggest
that Microsoft reverts its Window Update site to a previous time i.e. one that works. Hopefully, all of this is not intended to move us off Windows XP in the near term.
