anyone have a suggestion where to go to get up the learning curve rapidly?
I need to know about hacks [jailbreaking], apps [like REAL info from real people that are savvy], accessories, and some technical things... hardware, audio, etc

Windows Media Player (Windows 8) no longer plays DVDs after installing Windows Phone 8 SDK
location:
microsoft.com - date:
October 31, 2012
The Windows Media Player worked fine when it was first installed. However, after installing the Windows Phone 8 SDK, I now receive the error messsage:
"CANNOT PLAY DVD The DVD may be in use by another application. If all other applications are closed, the video resolution may need to be lowered or the display connection type may not support playback of the DVD."
I did a system restore (pre SDK installation) and I was once again allowed to watch DVD's. After reinstalling the SDK, I am experiencing the same error.
Another video player (VideoLAN) plays the DVD's correctly

Hi there
I see on Visual Studio 2012 that there is an option to download the Windows Phone SDK and create projects for Windows Phone.
Anybody tried this -- or can point to links on some sort of basic 101 type instructions -- might be interesting to play with this.

These phones are way cool, better than android and way way better than the iphone! Discover Windows Phone 7 | Newest Cell Phones | Windows Phone 7
This here is the site to discover said phone device, but keep in mind, you need a 32 bit browser with Silverlight installed to use it unfortunately. But it's well worth it.
And on another side note, oh gosh, it's getting me stoked for the new user interface of Windows 8!

Replacement for Palm Desktop/Palm LifeDrive on Windows 7 & Windows Phone

Al,
You can quickly and easily download the free app, Deja Office from Google Play and see how you like it. Then, later on, tackle the palm to Android data transfer to get all your old data moved.
Palm Desktop is now supported by HP. I last contacted tech support in February. You can get Version 6.2 here:
http://kb.hpwebos.com/wps/portal/kb/common/article/32859_en.html
This version runs native on Windows 7 and is almost identical to the old version. (I am using Win7 Home Premium, 64 bit, SP1.) This web page doesn't list your Palm device, so I perhaps it will/won't hot-sync to your handheld? As you can see from this link, USB HotSync is not supported with 64 bit Win 7. Bluetooth sync is used instead, which is not as hassle free as

Windows Phone 7 Series
location:
7forums.com - date:
February 15, 2010
Microsoft just unveiled its latest mobile operating system, Windows Phone 7 Series at Mobile World Conference in Barcelona. It is a complete departure from Windows Mobile, the latest version of which is 6.5.3.
The new operating system is subject to strict hardware specifications; including screen size and type, processor speed and type, and button function and placement. Microsoft is aiming for a unified experience between devices, unlike the previous Windows Mobile which was the subject of vendor skinning.
Windows Phone 7 Series devices will feature integration with social networking sites, location aware search, and Office Sharepoint and Xbox live integration.
The Start menu has been replaced with a 'tile screen' that contains tiles
