Windows 7 Documents Library Redirection to network share
location:
microsoft.com - date:

In Windows 7 Professional RTM 32-bit, how can you redirect the documents folder on the start menu to a network share eg. \\servername1\shared? You used to be able to do this on Windows Vista but I am unable to add this share to the new Documents Library.
I was able to add the folder once I made it available offline, but I do not want my files stored locally. Is there a way to remove the Documents Library shortcut on the start menu and replace it with the old Documents shortcut found in Vista?

Windows 7 Fails to Logon to Network Share
location:
winsecrets.com - date:

I have a W7HP laptop which has had a a server network drive mapped and working without any problems for some time. I have just created a new user login to the laptop, and I cannot get that user on to the server drive. - It is shown in Explorer, but asks for a user name and password when attempting to connect, but my network credentials are being rejected, saying that the username or password is bad. The network share is actually a Linux Samba share, and I would have started to look there if my other user login to the laptop didn't work either. - I do, of course have other machines on the network working fine: Two other W7HP, a couple of Vista and an old XP. All the connections are wired. I've compared the network configurations, and tried e

Network Share not working through Windows 7 home premium
location:

The registry hack worked for me. I had a Win 7 Pro 64 workstation that had been connecting flawlessly to shares on my Win 2003 Server, but abruptly stopped accepting them (this was right after a Microsoft Update). I knew the credentials worked because
my fstab maps on my Ubuntu system still worked, only my Win 7 box couldn't get in. The LmCompatibilityLevel registry hack did the trick - thanks.

windows 7 ultimate 64 cannot see network share
location:

Windows 7 ultimate 64 machine cannot see network share.
It is joined to the domain properly. it shows up in AD, WSUS, and endpoint.
I can ping from this machine to the file server, and from the file server to the workstation - no problem, but the file server does not show up in the network listing. I also cannot directly access the file server via \\file or \\ip_address.
every once in a while it will work correctly. Like today....
I went to go get screenshots of the exact error message, and I was able to access the network shares after a gpupdate /force. If this week is a repeat of last week, it will fail again later in the week.
when it was erroring out, and I let windows diagnose the issue, something along the lines o

Network Share cached credential cannot be cleared in Windows 7
location:

I have tested connecting Windows 7 with WD Sharespace and Synology NAS. After the first login with credentials , for subsequent logins Windows 7 does not prompt for user credentials. Whenever i type \\server , it goes straight to the network shares. I have
googled and tested some given solutions , none worked for windows 7.
What i have tried.
1. Cleared all Credentials in User accounts
1. Open User Accounts by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel,
clicking User Accounts and Family Safety (or clicking User Accounts, if you are connected to a network domain), and then
clicking User Accounts.

windows 7 network drive share?
location:
7forums.com - date:
March 19, 2012
I've searched high and low for a fix and I am at my wits end!!
Ok, so I have 3 pc's on my home lan...two are 7 ultimate and one is 7 home.
All I want to be able to do is share the hard drives to make moving files from one to another easy and quick instead of using thumb drives. That's all i want to do...was so easy and nice in XP but I cannot get it to work in 7. I do NOT like that Homegroup thing either as that is not working for me.
None of the pc's have log in's or passwords...they boot directly into windows 7.
When i share out a drive and then try to connect it tells me the drive is not available and I'm about to lose my mind.
Can anyone help me out with this? Like I said, it was SO easy in XP....
Thanks!

Windows 7 Backup network share, cached username/password?
location:
microsoft.com - date:
January 14, 2013
One of the users in our domain decided it was good idea to configure the backup solution in Win 7 to save backups on her network share on a Windows 2008 R2-server.
Not a bad idea, however she got asked to enter her username and password, which she did.
Now her user keeps getting locked out (even though she re-entered the username and password.)
If she starts a new backup, it seems like her user gets locked immidiatley.
This also happend from time to time even though we turned off the scheduled backup.
We tried to run rundll32.exe keymgr.dll,KRShowKeyMgr to see if there was something stored we could remove, but we couldn't find anything related to backup.
Any input?
(Now I don't know how this is supposed to work, but I don't feel this
