File explorer sees it fine. What's up with that?
My HP H8 with Windows 8 works OK with this same phone and the WP8 app.
I think something is wrong with the WP8 app + Surface Pro. Any ideas?
Thanks for any help......
Bob

Windows Phone 8 POP E-mail client won't receive certain attachments
location:
winsecrets.com - date:

I am new to Windows Phone 8 -- just got a Nokia 820 on an AT&T Upgrade and am learning, learning, learning all of the quirks, ways of doing things that are foreign to Windows users, and MS Office users. Outlook for Windows Phone is such the case as it is NOTHING like the Outlook in Windows Desktop OS. One can't even configure a POP account in Outlook Mobile: you're limited to Outlook-Exchange, Outlook.com accounts and Office 365. I don't even know what e-mail client they do use, but it seems no other e-mail apps are available or offered in the Windows Store or otherwise.
My main problem with this lame client is I cannot receive .DOC, .DOCX or .TXT attachments -- they just don't show. I can, however, attach a .PDF file and it show

4 new updates for Windows Phone 8
location:
winsecrets.com - date:
April 3, 2013
Just downloaded the latest 4 updates for Windows Phone 8. 3 were from Nokia regarding their Nokia Drive, Nokia Maps, and Nokia Transit.
The Nokia Maps update really got my attention! After installing I did a search for Scottsdale Fashion Square Mall, and it showed it (the mall) on the map. I zoomed in and it showed the first floor shops with an icon to take me to the second floor. Just for giggles I did a search for the Microsoft store in the mall, and it took me right to it. Next up was 5 guys burgers and again it took me right to it. Didn't have time to stop in though!!!!
Still playing with the enhancements in Nokia Drive, and Nokia Transit.
The 4th update was for facebook, and I will play with that one later.

I sure am running into a lot of, really, good, favourable, enthusiastic reviews & articles on Windows Phone 8 phones. And, it doesn't seem to matter what brands, Nokia, HTC, et al. I'm not going to plug links in here, easy enough to find for yourselves.
But, yes, y'all can chip in (no pun intended) & get me one for Christmas.
Yep I sure do want a Win8 phone.
Cheers,
Drew

Extendable chat platform in Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8
location:
microsoft.com - date:

There simply aren't great Windows 8 style chat apps. IM+ for instance is bugy as ****, other options don't cover that many protocols or are just extremly bad. I have come to ask myself 'Why isn't there something, like the chat app integrated in Windows
Phone, but just extandable with other protocols in the same style like lenses in the camera app?' The same thing could be done in Windows 8 - even the SMS stuff, if Microsoft used the GSM/CDMA/3G/LTE capabilities it already programmed as a class driver. This
also wouldn't upset developers much, as there would still be room for "plug-ins" for the protocols or other functionality, but it would be much more energy-efficient and the quality would be better, becuase the platform

Report: Verizon will have a new Nokia Windows Phone 8 device later this year | wpcentral | Windows Phone News, Forums, and Reviews
The main thorn in the crotch of Windows Phone has been the lack of Verizon's support. There's only one phone, the HTC Trophy, on Verizon. They've criticized the platform for not having LTE support, but apparently they're in the Windows Phone boat now. I'm pretty excited that Nokia's going to be part of Verizon because that means I can talk to my brother and see if I can add a line on his account and pay WAY less than my individual att account. Apple on the Nokia Lumia in court
This one was a good read. It's about the Jeckle and Hyde situation of apple and Samsung's trial. In closing argument, apple's lawyer
