Re-installed windows 7 and windows update will not work properly

Since I re-installed my Windows 7 last week, Windows Update would not work. When I got to the section to check for updates, there is a red shield with an 'x' in it. When i click the button that says "check for updates" I get a message saying "Windows Update cannot check for updates because the service is not running. you may need to restart your computer." The computer has been restarted several times with no change. When I check services in administrative tools, it says that the service is running. I have run the the update readiness tool, but this did not run properly, the message "Installer Encountered an error: 0xc8000247" appeared <1min after starting.
Interestingly, I tried reinstalling windows last

Windows not reading Chinese characters properly

Hello all,
This is a really strange problem. Both my laptop and my desktop can't seem to read Chinese characters properly. The languages are installed; I can type in Chinese just fine, but if I go to a folder that contains music files in Chinese or I open up Windows Media Player, the characters are all boxes. Just plain old boxes. Yet, if I choose to play one of these songs, the correct title will show up in my Windows Live Messenger status. I'm not sure why Windows Live Messenger can read it properly, but not Windows 7 itself.
Even if I go on google chrome and go on youtube, the youtube page itself will display the characters properly, but the google chrome tab label will be boxes. The screenshot should clarify.

Windows 8 crash at startup after shutdown

Hello,
Some days ago I installed Windows 8 (clean install), everything works fine except that it always crashes after a shutdown. It crashes right at the logo, just freezes there. Also it only happens if I shut it down "properly", if I restart the computer or if I force it to shutdown it doesn't crash. I suspect the problem is a driver but I'm not sure...
If someone could help.

I had two radio stations pinned to the start program. One of the stations appeared to be listed in duplicate and I deleted the duplicate. The pinned listing disappeared and so did the sound.

Hi this is sandeep erukala. I bought a new samsung laptop from US through my cousin. He buy my laptop online. In delivery pack we didnt get any windows 8 DVD. Now i want to install Linux on my laptop for 4 months period. Then after i will install windows
8 again. My problem is that.. After 4 months how i can install windows 8 in my laptop with out any DVD. Please help me.

Windows 8 didnt download after paying

I paid for windows 8 with a discount code so i got it for £14.99 when i paid for it, got that circle thing spinning around and at the top it said processing order, said that for a few hours and my laptop had died out and i went back on and it wasnt their.
Tried going back on the upgrade tool but its asking me to pay again etc. called up microsoft and they said i need to wait on an email with a link for download but nothing has came through and ive waited hours on this.

Windows 8 won't shutdown or restart

Until 2 days ago, WIndows 8 was shutting down fine. Then it did a couple of updates and now neither the shutdown or restart button will work from the charms menu. I created a new shutdown button but that won't work either. I tried disabling the fast restart
bit in the power menu but that did nothing either. It will go into sleep or hibernate OK. It is driving me crazy, please help. Oh and I also uninstalled the updates with no result and I tried to do a system restore to an earlier date but that sat there thinking
all day and wouldn't start either!! HELP!!!

I have recently purchased a windows 7 PC and have upgraded to windows 8 with the Promo code and now I want to add features to my win8 Pro installed,I tried installing the Windows Media Center by clicking Add Features options availble, but the product key
which I got from microft is not working for that, It shows that "This key will not work,try a different key" Also I have planned to order the DVD back up of windows 8 with the promocode , but it does not woking while ordering, it shows the key is not applicable,
Why does this error? can anybody help me what the real problem was?
