As mentioned, I own a full retail copy of Windows 7 ultimate and I'm about to replace my motherboard, CPU, and RAM. Will Windows 7 function properly? If not, what do I need to do in order to make that happen? Thanks!

The issues started immediately after installing the following Windows updates on May 22nd : KB287385, KB2830290, KB2829530, KB2829361, KB282954, KB2820197, KB2805966, KB2804584, KB2804583,
and KB2798162.
The issue is that the HP Elitebook 8460p Business Notebook computer does not fully shut down when the shutdown is initiated. The system turns off all devices including the display, wireless card, and even keyboard, but then
the power stays on while the system is halted. There is no other way to recover from this condition other than simply holding the power button (no other keys work) to power off the system. After the system is powered back on there are no errors and no indications

Windows 8 Shutdown Takes 19 Minutes
location:
microsoft.com - date:
May 7, 2013
Hello,
About a week ago my Windows 8 Pro system started to take 19 minutes to shut down after pressing the shutdown or restart button. Also tried the cmd shutdown.exe -f -s -t 0 with the same effects. Did the diagnostic startup where it turns off all the services
and it shuts down fine. Started turning on services and found the POWER service is the cause. I haven't made any changes to my system. To diag this problem it takes 40 min as you have to wait for it to shutdown then try things and another 20 min to shutdown
again.
Any ideas why the POWER service would cause a 20 min shutdown and only the past week? There's nothing in the logs showing something going on during those 19 min. With this service disabled, set

How to fix windows 8 shutdown and restart problems?
location:
microsoft.com - date:
December 30, 2012
Ok, here is my issue. I purchased a new Clevo w110er laptop that came with a new install of Windows 8 pro. After receiving the laptop I immediately repartitioned the HDD and installed Ubuntu 12.04 LTS on the second partition. In windows however, the computer
hangs whenever I try to shut it down or restart it. The screen goes black but the computer stays on. I have tried every possible solution I have been able to find on the internet and I am getting extremely frustrated.
Here are the solutions I have tried:
1. Booting in safe mode: no change
2. Performing a clean boot: no change
3. Doing a windows "refresh": no change
4. Turning off the new hybrid boot option under the "change what the power button does": no change
5. Trie

Hi there,
We started to roll out some windows 7 with the new dell in the office.
As well installed some windows 7 licenses on our "old" dell laptops as well.
But now I suddenly noticed that some of the Dell laptops D620 is just an example that has 2-4 GB memory and Intel SSD 80GB disks with windows 7 has problems with the shutdown.
They dont give me any error and seems to go down to shutdown.
Only problem is the screen goes black as it should but the powe led is still green even after we waited some mins.
And yes its everythime as well.
First I was thinking that it went to herbinate or someting but its not possible to wake the computer up. Need to force shutdown by pressing the power button in for 5 sec.
Been trying to figure out

Computer freezes on Windows 8 shutdown or restart
location:
microsoft.com - date:
November 18, 2012
I just bought a new Asus N56 and installed on it fresh Windows 8 Enterprise. There were Windows 8 drivers on the manufacturer's page, also new version of bios. I'm not sure if this happened after I flashed the new BIOS or just is something that happens on
regular basis with my installation of Windows.
When I shut down or restart the computer it shows me the message (e.g. Restarting), after this the displays turns off and I can still hear the fan working, and it stays in that condition forever. Also the keyboard is lid.
If I hold the turn off key It will shut down.
Any suggestions?
