Windows 8 screen stays black after booting up
location:
microsoft.com - date:

Searched a couple of times on the forum, but it doesn't seems that people have the same problem like me.
When I sometimes boot the machine, the screen stays black. (Also after 10 min waiting, looks like the PC boots up successfully.)
When I click with the mouse or type something, the screen still stays black. After clicking the power button, the PC will shutdown, and when I boot the machine up again, the PC works perfect. This is happening lets say 5/10 times I boot the PC. I have this
only on my workstation, not on my notebook. In the time that Windows 8 was released, I fully reinstalled Windows 8 one time, and the problem still exists.
My workstation is a Windows 8 Pro x64 machine with a 1920x1080 Eyefinity (triple scree

Windows will not boot up after uninstalling Avast Antivirus.
location:

Has anyone else had this problem and might know how to fix it? I just did the normal uninstall and then when it asked to restart to finish removing everything like usual, my computer would not load windows anymore. I can get the Acer logo page, but then when it goes to the booting page, all i get is the little blinking line at the top left of the screen. I used an sd card and my usb drive (i dont have a cd drive) to boot it up from Hitman Pro, but i would like a permanant fix. I tried system restore but it keeps giving me an error message, and says that nothing has been changed. Any help would be appreciated.

Hey I really need help here!! I also know next to nothing about computer 'language' so please be patient!!
I recently installed the 'media go' from pc companion software for my Sony Xperia phone. During installation my acer laptop crashed and now when I boot up I am asked to launch normally - which flashes a blue screen and the laptop restarts automatically. Or I can launch a system repair this is unsuccessful and I can then open the system recovery options.
When trying to do a system restore I am shown two previous restore points but then I am told I must enable system protection on the local disk (C drive???
Is there any way of doing this through a command prompt??

Blank Screen After Windows 7 Ultimate Installation
location:
8forums.com - date:
March 18, 2013
Hi all,
I recently bought an ASUS S56CM notebook pre-loaded with Windows 8 x64 and a lot of bloatware.
So I decided to download a clean retail version of Windows 7 Ultimate x64 (X17-59465), create a bootable USB and do a clean install.
What I did:
Create a bootable USB
Enter BIOS (UEFI) enable "launch CSM", disable "secure boot" and set priority boot to the USB
Works fine, I entered windows 7 installation and did the following:
1) Shift+F10, enter command prompt
2) diskpart, list disk, select disk # (my HDD), clean, format MBR, create partition, format NTFS and successfully installed my Windows 7 Ultimate x64 into my newly formatted disk
3) It restarted and continue booting into the same USB
4) so I realize th

Window 7 Pro and Windows 8 Pro Dual Boot (No option at boot up)
location:

I am not getting the screen asking me to choose which Operating system at boot up. It gives me no options and just Boots straight to the C drive where I have Windows 7 Pro.
In preparation I shrunk the Volume of the C drive and created a new partition (E) in which I made it a simple volume NTFS . I then installed Windows 8 Pro from the CD ROM and everything went fine. However when I re boot it just Boots straight into Windows 7 Pro and no mention of Windows 8.
I tried to use Easy BCD 2.2 and now I have three entries (1) Windows 7 (2) Microsoft Windows 7 (3) Microsoft Windows 8
When I select Windows 8 at boot up I then get an error telling me the boot Load EXE file is corrupt
I am really stumped, I have loaded windows 8 four times and s

Windows 8 - System hangs on black screen after crash
location:

Hello all. I thank anyone in advance who offers any help or guidance with this issue. Right now I am rather highly frustrated with Windows 8 and it's failing recovery options and lack revealing what happened and what the issue actually is.
Last night (2/18) I was playing a game of COD:Black Ops 2 and in the middle of a game my system crashed to a mostly black screen with some graphical glitches throughout and stuttering but still playing sound. I had to hard power the system off with the power
button. When I restarted the system (and when I start it now) I pass the BIOS POST get the black screen with the Windows 8 logo and the swirly then I see my keyboard and mouse lights flash off and I go to a black screen and that is where the syst

Upgraded to windows 8 pro, got black screen after restart.
location:
8forums.com - date:
January 1, 2013
The laptop I have is an ASUS g74, I purchased the copy of windows 8 from microsoft's site, upgrading from windows 7 pro. I opted to keep all my personal files/apps because the programs it warned me as being incompatible were random games and such.
I googled this problem, and it seemed fairly common months ago when windows 8 first came out on dell/HP laptops. It worked flawlessly when I first upgraded and booted up fine but once I restarted I couldn't see anything other than the screen occasionally flickering brighter and darker.
However, if I plug my laptop up to a TV with an HDMI cable I can see everything on the TV. It's just the laptop screen that is blank. I'm not sure where to go from here, thanks in advance for any help!

start up, shutdown, and hibernate problems windows 8, blue screen error keeps popping up
location:
microsoft.com - date:
February 26, 2013
So here's what happens, whenever I would put my laptop either on hibernate, sleep, or just leave it sitting there for a while, it would shut down after roughly 5 minutes, and an error shows. Next, when I would shut down my laptop, it would take more than
20 minutes for the fan, and the power supply to actually shut down and stop working right after I shut the system down.
Here are the errors that pop out:
C:\Windows\Minidump\012213-32011-01.dmp
C:\Users\<user>\AppData\local\WER-112539-0.sysdata.xml
