Hi Guys!
I've got a serious problem with my new laptop. This was a Christmas present I received from my parents and I was so grateful (as I used to have VISTA - and was advised by a salesman when I told him I had a vista laptop to "BURN IT, BURN IT WITH FIRE."). Anyway. I haven't had any issues with my laptop, but today it has restarted itself 8 TIMES and counting. It keeps telling me it needs a Java update. and the java pop up comes on my screen from oracle etc. So I press 'install' and my laptop begins to install, then all of a sudden comes up with a blue screen with a ' ' then says Windows has discovered a problem and has to restart. I'm going crazy here. Someone please help me it would be truly appreciated!

Windows 8 Restart Time
location:
8forums.com - date:

I recently purchased new components for my computer. Everything seems to be working properly except for one issue. If I do a cold shutdown to my computer Windows 8 boots almost instantly. This is what I would expect from my build. If I do a restart from within Windows, it takes a much longer time to boot the system. I am attempting to figure out why this is occurring. I would like my reboot time and my cold boot time to be the same (like they should). Below explains a bit more about what I am trying to say.
Cold Boot: YouTube
Reboot: Reboot of Windows 8 - YouTube
Boot Trace: summary_boot.xml (of reboot)
Build List:
EVGA 02G-P4-3664-KR GeForce GTX 660 Ti FTW Signature2

Windows 8 Restart after Problem Encountered and Gathering Information
location:

March 10, 2013
My sister recently got a laptop with windows 8. The laptop model is Toshiba Satellite C855D-S5320.
She's had it since Wed. March 6th 2013. The past 2 days this error has occurred twice, once during the night while the laptop was left alone.
The best she was able to describe the error:
"A message with a frowny face stating Windows has encountered a problem, gathering information and a counter that counts down from 50 seconds then the laptop shuts off or restarts"
The only changes made to the laptop was uninstalling some useless junk-ware that came pre-installed (wildtangent games, etc), and the installation of firefox, malwarebytes (not pro), spybot s&d, ccleaner & Microsoft Office 2007. the 1st 3 were downloade

Windows 8 installation error 0x0000005D - Endless loop of "Your PC needs to restart. Please hold down the power button. "

I wanted to install Windows 8 on an old Gateway Windows XP computer. The Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant told me that NX wasn't enabled, but indicated that if the installation process wasn't able to enable NX, it would revert back to my original OS. On that
basis I decided to purchase Windows 8, since it would either install properly or I would be left with my old OS. But instead I have neither, just an endless loop of "Your PC needs to restart. Please hold down the power button. " I have seen several posts
about enabling NX in the firmware, and if the option isn't there, then upgrading the firmware. Well the NX enable option isn't there, and Gateway doesn't have a firmware update that enables NX for this compu
