Windows 8 Release Preview Installation Problems!
location:
8forums.com - date:
October 4, 2012
I have tried everything to install Windows 8 Release Preview onto my PC and it freezes at the end when it boots up on the last stage, and stays there.
I have tried to full format my HDD and nearly everything to try install it, still nothing working.
Im not 100% sure but could it be the PC it-self? Windows 7 also refuses to install, XP is the only one that works for me.
I have tried using only 2 sticks of RAM, using one HDD.
I really dont want to be stuck on XP, I heard that Windows 8 was coming out October 26 for $40 upgrade so im not sure if that will work even!
Please respond.

Windows 8 Consumer Preview installation problem on Sony Vaio VPCEB46FG
location:
8forums.com - date:
March 17, 2012
Hi, I have a Sony Vaio E Laptop Series: VPCEB46FG (i5+4GB RAM+500GB HD). I have genuine Windows 7 Home Premium installed on it when i bought it.
I have downloaded the Windows 8 Consumer Preview .iso file and made a DVD out of it. When i boot the windows for installation from the dvd and start installing Windows 8 the installations gets stuck on 'Expanding Windows files(1%)' step. I have waited till hours but it doesn't move further.
I've done this by installing a it to another drive. I've also tried installing from the setup in DVD after inserting the disk in win 7 but there also it gets stuck on 30% completion and doesn't move further.
Please help me out installing Windows 8 on my laptop. What should i do now?

I have already both upgraded and later clean installed Windows 8 CP without too many issues to a Dell E521 twin AMD 64bit machine, Dell E197FP monitor and GeForce 73 series graphics card. Windows 8 CP was a success for me, for 3-4 months of continued use.
Windows 8 RELEASE Preview INSTALLATION PROCESS is, sad to say it, the equivalent of Microsoft's Millennium Edition release - a disaster.
It does bother me to say this as I have followed Microsoft since Windows 3.
PROBLEM:
Clean install (4th attempt) of Windows 8 RELEASE preview (my patience has now run out - do you know how many hours lost in every install?)
The latest "installation", after some reboots, entering a name and password, background colour

This is exactly the problem that I have in the video from Dr.ZUBR!!!
The infamous W8 RP "slowly not responding properly to complete lockup" problem
My system is still doing this, I had no problems with the Consumer Preview but this exact thing, from the video, is happening to me in the Release Preview.
This is not a bad hardware problem. Nothing I have done, install drivers, replace drivers, shutdown background software has fixed it and it is completely random. Sometimes it will run for 24 hours before doing it and sometimes it happens
in five minutes. Its seems to happen more often when I have the Zune or Origin software running but it's not caused by them. There is also no useful information in the lo

Downgrading from Windows 8 Release Preview "Two Hour Forced Restart"... Back to original paid for Windows 7.

Running Windows 8 Release Preview, and now MIcrosoft is going to restart my computer every two hours? How is that even legal... zzz More importantly, is there an easy way to downgrade back to my FULLY **** LEGAL VERSION OF WINDOWS 7 that I had prior to
"beta testing" Windows 8. And the anger stems from not having the Product Key from the Windows 7 version, being as I no longer attend the university I bought it through, and the key is no longer online-- or at least no longer accessible to me-- . If there
isn't a way to do the downgrade, then congratulation Microsoft, you've made an enemy of a life long MS supporter. Really rather not have a pirated version, but whatever, not having my Windows 8 restarting every two hours. -Bo
