DailyTech - Ballmer: Windows 8 Will Land in 2012, Pop up in Tablets
So apparently Windows 8 will be released sometime in 2012, I'm not too crazy about the release looks more like a SP of Windows 7 then a full blown change plus Windows 7 was just released for a couple years and it's running very stable on my machine. Only if the price is right, I mean a lot cheaper than Windows 7 like by 50% or more then I may look into upgrading providing that 6GB ram on Windows 8 runs like 4GB ram on Windows 7 or better and Windows 8 performance is better than Windows 7 overall (games included).
Crazy Microsoft this is either going to be fail or major fail IMO.

Windows 8 in 2012, Beta as Early as 2011

Microsoft started dropping the first Windows 8 references as early as March 2009; yes, long before Windows 7 was finalized. And the next iteration of the Windows client and server operating systems are now taking shape in Redmond. The software giant already confirmed officially that Windows 8 client and Windows 8 Server are being developed in parallel. Just as it was the case for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2. Still, the company is mute on the evolution of Windows, including features, capabilities, the actual timetable, etc.
The successor of Windows 7 is planned for availability within three years after the GA of its predecessor. Microsoft said it would impose such a rhythm after the release of Windows Vista, promising to

Actually, Windows 8 in 2012 and Office 15 in 2014 Make Sense
location:
7forums.com - date:
August 28, 2010
Actually, launch deadlines for the next iteration of Windows in 2012, and for the forthcoming major version of Office in 2014, make sense.
With the advent of Windows Vista, various Microsoft executives, including CEO Steve Ballmer promised to never again repeat the gap that separated Windows XP from its successor, and to deliver new Windows releases at a faster pace, once every three years or so.
And while the Redmond company has yet to confirm any details related to Windows 8, the successor of Windows 7, third-party sources are reporting that the operating system will be released by the end of 2012.
It’s all a matter of simple math actually. Windows 7 was released to manufacturing on July 22nd, 2009, less than three ye

icrosoft has purged all mentions of Windows 8 from a company site in the Netherlands which revealed that the next major iteration of Windows is right on track for availability in 2012.
After confirming officially, but inadvertently, that the successor of Windows 7 is only a couple of years away, the software giant managed to easily go back to its traditional silence related to upcoming Windows client and server releases.
The latest statistics shared with the public on the operating system’s run on the market in the first year after general availability indicate that in excess of 240 million licenses have already been sold worldwide.
But even with Windows 7 immensely successful, Microsoft is treading extremely lightly, a

Quickbooks Accountant 2012, Flash 10, Windows 8
location:
microsoft.com - date:

So I checked the MS compatibility site to make sure this version of QB was compatible:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/compatibility/win8/CompatCenter/ProductViewerWithDefaultFilters?TempOsid=win8&Locale=en-us&TextSearch=quickbooks%2b2012&Type=Both&CurrentPage=0&TotalPages=1&ShowCriteria=0&SortCriteria=Relevance&Compatibility=Unknown&LastRequested=14
Of course the site said yes, and of course it really isn't. When I run in XP SP3 mode I get to a point where the installer begins trying to install 3rd party apps, one of which is flash 10 active x which fails. Here's a screenshot:

Since installing Windows 8 I can not send invoices by email. I understand there is a problem with the XPS document writer. None of the fixes by Intuit are working. They suggest upgrading to QuickBooks 2013 for $199 but I just upgraded to 2012 in May. Any
fixes from the Windows 8 side?

can't access the payroll files. I can work with the rest of the program, however. How do I solve this?
