Can I down grade from Windows 8 to Windows 7 for free.
location:
microsoft.com - date:
January 19, 2013
I just got a laptop with Windows 8 pre-installed. I hate it. Windows 8 is terrible for the casual user. I just want the start menu and Icons. It also doesn't come with a word processor. Every other Windows operating system I've had came with MS Works.
Can I down load Windows 7 from Microsoft for free?

The screen is black with the following text in white:
Your PC needs to restart.
Please hold down the power button.
Error Code: 0x0000005D
Parameters:
0x030F0209
0x756E6547

Installing the consumer preview had no problems.
If I boot into Windows 8 (Consumer Preview) and run the Release Preview setup from the DVD manually, I get the "Your CPU is not compatible" error message. My machine does meet the requirements as far as I know: P4 2.6 GHz, 1.75 GB of RAM.

Windows 8 "Free Apps" rip-Off
location:
winsecrets.com - date:
November 3, 2012
Some of the so-called "free" apps offered by Widows 8 are, in fact, not free!! They operate partially and then ask you to subscribe (annually!!) for a fee. For example, Encyclopaedia Britannica is "free" and appears to function fully until you search for a topic; you are then asked to pay a subscription in order to "read further". Some other "free" apps operate similarly.

Windows 8 Update Problems Code 8007003
location:
microsoft.com - date:
April 3, 2013
Hello All
I was wondering if anyone can help me.
I am running Windows 8 (fresh on new machine) and have now started to have problems with Windows Update. It stops at 7% and then resets itself.
I am protected by Norton 360 Premium but have switched off both the Firewall and the Virus Protection during the Update process (no success).
I have also run the Troubleshooter (no success).
I have also tried what I believe is a "cold reboot" where it resets the Update history etc (no success)
Specifically, I have the following Updates that are failing:
KB2795944
KB2785220
KB2799494
KB2769165
KB2812822
The reason for all five failing is given as Code 80
