Microsoft Sales exec promises 100,000 Windows 8 apps by January 2013
location:

Can Microsoft really add 97,000 apps to the Windows Store between now and January 2013? Or is someone in Redmond doing some funny figuring?
As of last week, there were an estimated 3,000-plus Windows Store style (Metro-Style) apps in the app store that Microsoft has built for Windows 8 and Windows RT. That same week, a Microsoft sales vice president told Beet.tv that Microsoft will have 100,000 apps for Windows 8 within 90 days after the operating system launches, which is October 25. Purchased two Windows 8 licenses but received same one code for Microsoft Media Center key
location:

I have two valid licenses for Windows 8 Pro. I purchased one license via download and purchased another via retail. I installed them separately and everything went well. The problem started when I took advantage to get the free for limited time only the
Windows Media Center key to get DVD media playback etc. I used the same email address to get this key for both licenses I had...because I thought I'd get two different ones. But I didn't realize at the time it was the exact same one. So I installed it on both
machines not thinking there'd be a problem...but apparently there is.
I noticed immediately after I installed the Media Center license on the second computer I received a warning I had to activate my Windows 8 license?! I was

Upgrading to Windows 8 (not invalid) from a Windows 7 with invalid activation code
location:

Basically this computer recently crashed (HP Pavilion Elite HPE 372f) - I had an incredibly rough time trying to recover it so eventually I just took apart the PC, ripped all the essential files off of the hard drive, put it back together and did a 'clean'
install of Windows 7 64 bit (I had a CD lying around, the PC itself didn't come with a recovery CD or a Windows 7 CD).

Charms > Settings > Change PC Settings > Users > Switch to Microsoft Account
and try to use this email, it immediately says
We're sorry, but something went wrong. Your account wasn't changes to this Microsoft account. Code: 0x80070426

Windows 8 backup error code 0x81000033
location:
microsoft.com - date:
December 26, 2012
I am attempting to create a system image from Windows 8 on a external USB drive. I have a Seagate expansion drive with 1.81 Tb capacity that I am attempting to put the backup on. In Control Panel/Windows 7 file recovery I am selecting 'back up now' The backup
appears to proceed normally... but eventually fails with error code 0x81000033
There is plenty of free space on the Seagate external drive - so space should not be an issue.
How do I correct this issue?

Microphone no longer functioning with Windows 8? (Code 10)
location:
microsoft.com - date:
December 20, 2012
Recently updated to Windows 8, and in turn has caused my Blue Snowball to no longer function.
I have attempted reinstalling the Windows drivers used for this device, according to Blue "The Snowball is a direct plug n' play mic that connects to either a Mac or PC - no additional software is needed." I've attempted clearing the motherboard cache,
anything else I could try, to fix this?

Incorrect zip code format when buying Windows 8
location:

Trying to buy Windows 8, but in Portugal when normally resident in UK. At the billing address form fill in, I fail repeatedly on Zip/Post code. Tried various formats but never gets beyond this error. No where on the form is there a country option. So
i ausume that the Zip code format is defaulting to local country format; ie Portugal and therfore does not like UK code!! Others seem to be suffering the same block to full Windows 8 purchase 8. Bad start to Window 8 expereinece 8. Hope it gets sorted soon!!
