Under windows8 pro, I start ton get the error code oxc0000142 when I try to run certain programs. One application points to Java JDK and a corrupted path statement. I try to run command.com but receive the same error.
What is wrong and what can I do about it?

It talks about the "DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION", supposedly caused by AVG. For anyone having this issue, I have NOT found a "fix", BUT, I did (at least on my PC) find the root cause. Apparently, Windows 8 has a watchdog service, and so does AVG. When I disable
AVG's watchdog service, my computer run's fine (although AVG doesn't). So, at least for me, it must be a compatibility issue between AVG's Watchdog service and Windows 8 (possibly the Windows 8 watchdog service). Anyone that has any thoughts or ideas on
how to fix this, please feel free to share!

I reallllly dislike the new Windows 8 and Office 2013 UI. What the heck were you guys thinking? Care to ask the customers first?

I really believe Microsoft made a terrible mistake by betting on the new interface. Not everyone is going to use a tablet. In fact I would guess more people will stick to a full blown pc/laptop and may have a tablet as a side toy. What were you thinking?
Please bring back the old look and feel. This blah AKA Metro look makes my eyes melt and my head hurt. Was there a shortage of designers or creative thinkers??????? There is no way I'm going to upgrade any of my personal systems and any of employer's systems
to this new disaster. I might as well move everyone to a mac. At least their UI doesn't cause physical ailments.

Hi!
My Windows 8 Pro works fine until Monday.
After I started Windows 8 many programs (e.g. Office 2010 or Photo Studio) disappeared from the system disk.
Also a dll from1 Acrobat Reader disappeared and my sound doesn't work any more. Some shortcuts like Win+I doesn't work also.
I repaired the programms, but the sound problem (after many reinstalls of the drivers) is still there (Code 39)
Can anyone please help me?

i have encountered a Code 80240440 error while trying to update my windows 8 pc.... i have tried turning off the firewall but the result is the same.... somebody pls help me sort uot this problem
I have the same problem. I'm a computer tech, so I've tried all the usual methods. This is a clean install with no additional software except Avast (which I disabled during the trouble shooting part of the problem). I had NO problems with the last beta
version updating, but this new release is driving me buggy.
In addition (may not be related), Windows Defender is disabled (maybe by Avast) and I am unable to use "sleep" mode on the computer -- it isn't one of the options on the shut down list, and I can't ena

I have seen the odd query from time to time in the Lounge about syncing Outlook data with other sources such as Google, EverNote, DropBox etc.
