Windows 8 Metro Apps (Like Windows Store) get stuck on splash screen
location:
8forums.com - date:
October 29, 2012
Hello.
when I just installed windows 8, I could run the Windows Store, Bing search and more.
now, when I run metro apps, the Logo moves from the center to the top left corner. have these "dots of loading" moving. but nothing happens.
after installing windows 8. and saw that this worked. I installed Kaspersky 2013 internet security, installed Visual Studio 2012 express. and changed the Windows Language appearance from Hebrew to English.
I don't know from what point it stopped working.
My screen resolution is 1050x1680. I tried using a local account. a live account. tried to "Refresh" - that didn't work at all. at the beginning it asks me to put media with the windows 8 installation or a recovery disc. I tried

all windows 8 metro apps show offline unable to load
location:

I am very very frustrated.
None of my windows 8 metro apps are loading. Most say I am offline, when I can clearly go to desktop and be connected.
It is not the resolution b/c I was using the same (native) resolution before without a problem. That did not work.
It is not the proxy b/c I am NOT behind a proxy. That did not work.
I tried changing the UAC (user account control) settings to default or always notify. That did not work.
I tried disabling the firewall. That did not work.
I tried disabling my antivirus (and Windows Live Defender). That did not work.
I tried deleting my user account and recreating it. That did not work.
I am running out of options and this is ridiculous. I know I can simply use the desktop for everyt

Windows 8 Metro Apps Connection Error persists even after trying everything
location:
microsoft.com - date:
April 11, 2013
I am aware that this question has been asked numerous times, but I am truly
disappointed that there is no single working solution yet.
My problem, as I'm sure of many others, is that my Metro UI Apps do not connect to the internet.
(This problem is not restricted to a certain app, it affects each and every app that tries to access the web)
Live tiles on the start screen, however, update just fine.
I'm going to list the solutions I've already tried so that it is easier to eliminate false responses.
1. Refreshing Windows.
2. Running the famous App troubleshooter which does not seem to do much. (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=268423)
3. Disabling proxy settings - which were never turned on in the first place
4. Disablin

Windows 8 Metro apps won't open.
location:

I recently got an ASUS x401a notebook with windows 8 pre-installed. I've had the notebook for over a month and have had no problems. But recently the start screen metro apps have began to stop working. I will start an app, the icon of the app will come
up and then the icon will move to the top left corner of the screen along with the loading symbol. It will generally stay like that for a while before eventually closing down. other apps will be a plane white screen and then close as well. The first app to
work incorrectly was the windows store with the icon moving to the top left of the screen. These problems occurred after shutting down the notebook and it began to install 10 updates while shutting down. Also before that

Windows 8 Metro apps freshen up for Release Preview
location:
8forums.com - date:
May 16, 2012
Microsoft is tweaking its core Metro apps for the upcoming Windows 8 Release Preview.
Already showing up in the newest internal builds of Windows 8, the updated apps offer new features, changes to the user interface, and the removal of the "app preview" title, says The Verge. Included in the revamp are the Windows 8 Mail, Calendar, People, and Messaging app; the Photos App, the Music app, and the Microsoft Reader.
Some of the updates are floating about internally at Microsoft but are not available for the Windows 8 beta, aka Consumer Preview. Instead, Microsoft will unveil them all as part of the Windows 8 Release Preview.
But Windows Store preview pages of certain revised apps are now popping up online. Read more at: Wi

Windows 8 Metro Apps suddenly stopped working: Tried everything I can find nothing worked
location:
microsoft.com - date:
November 18, 2012
I booted up my new Lenovo Ideapad Y480 with Windows 8 preinstalled for the first time on Thursday, I set everything up to my liking and had been using it without a hitch for about day until yesterday (Saturday) in the afternoon a bunch of the metro apps
just suddenly stopped working (store, mail, skype, messenger, photo...etc) They would open up on a colored background sometimes showing the logo (often times the logo would be off in a corner) and a loading circle, sometimes just a solid color screen (I should
add that the live tiles are still updating themselves even on the apps that don't open) I've been doing a lot of research and tried most of the common fixes with no avail.

I have exact same issue when updating to 8.1. Tried uninstalling and re-installing app but that did not work. I can watch it from a browser but not from app. No solution found as yet, but looks like it's a Microsoft issue. If anyone finds a fix, please let us know.
