Winload.exe error & Windows 8 boot loader
location:

Something with horribly wrong. After a Windows 7 update I am now getting a Winload.exe error in both Windows 7 and 8. I tried to repair using the Windows 8 install CD but with no success. I reinstalled 8 to it's partition with the same results.
I think the problem is this...
Windows 7 was installed to drive 0 partition 1
Windows 8 was installed to drive 1 partition 0
When I installed Windows 8, it loaded it's own boot loader and did so on drive 0 (the Windows 7 drive). When Windows 7 updated, something went very wrong and the Windows 8 boot loader got messed up.
Being unable to install Windows 8, I disconnected all drives but the Windows 8 drive and installed Windows 7. Thus I am currently running on the clean in

Windows 8 boot loader hangs with 2 sticks of RAM
location:
microsoft.com - date:
January 6, 2013
I just installed Windows 8 as a dual-boot. While running the installer, it hanged during startup, so I removed a stick of RAM and tried again. I knew to do this, because I had the same problem when I installed Windows Server 2008 R2 on this machine, but
after Server was installed, I was able to re-insert my second stick of RAM and use the OS just fine. Now, with the Windows 8 boot loader, the system just hangs at the very early stages of booting, even before it gives me options on which operating system I
would like to boot in to. As soon as I pop out my second stick of RAM, the boot loader works fine and asks me which OS I'd like to start up.

computer and boot loader crashed after installing Windows 8 .1
location:
microsoft.com - date:
June 27, 2013
Installed installing Windows preview 8.1 from the Windows Store I was prompted to restart my computer and after I restarted the boot screen gave me two options. The first option was Windows 8 setup and the second one was Windows 8. I chose Windows 8 setup
and after a few minutes of configuring, my computer shut down and restarted and at that point showed a blue screen saying that the bootloader had been corrupted and I needed a recovery disk to restore my system. Why did this happen? And it is extremely frustrating
to me that this occurred when I don't have a recovery disk to repair the system.

GUI Windows 8 style boot loader for Windows 7?
location:
7forums.com - date:
November 15, 2011
I have windows 8 and windows 7 dual booted on my computer. I really like the windows 8 boot loader, but my computer only uses it if windows 8 was the last OS I booted to. Is there a way to get a windows 8 style boot loader with a GUI on Windows 7? As opposed to the black and white boot loader in which you select the OS with the up, down and enter key.
Thanks

Windows 8 100% CPU use idle by disk degragmenter
location:
microsoft.com - date:
February 15, 2013
Of the four computers I installed Windows 8 Professional upgrade to, one of the computers will jump to 99-100% CPU use when idle for about a minute. Any activity by me (access menus or programs) results in the Service Host: Disk Defragmenter to stop and
return to normal low CPU use. The PC has three hard drives, all of which report to be fully defragged (ought to be after days of defragging ;-) ).
I unplugged two of the hard drives to determine if one drive might be the culprit, but no change was observed.
The CPU temperature jumps from about 42 degrees Celcius to 49 degrees while the task manager is showing the defragmenter to be running, so I am assuming that the CPU graph in task manager is correctly

Hi everyone i bought myself a new laptop with a 1tb hdd and it has windows 8 installed. I understand the product key is encoded into the bios now and would like to know some basic things. What i want to know is if i remove the hard drive then plug it back
in will the product key automaticly register with the oem hard drive and still be activated in windows 8. The reason i ask this is because i want to put my 120gb ssd in the laptop and install my copy of windows 7 ultimate on it but would like the be able to
use the windows 8 hard drive again. The problem is im not sure if it will still be activted on that hard drive if i remove it and plug it back in.
