Windows 8 KVM switch
location:

I have seen several questions like mine: I am trying to run one XP machine and one Windows 8 machine thru a VGA monitor. Both machines work fine when connected directly to the monitor, and the XP machine works with an older KVM switch. I cannot seem
to find a KVM that will work with the Windows 8 machine. I don't want to spend hundreds on this thing, and so far no one including Microsoft has been any help. Any answers, anyone???

Firewall in Windows 8 wont switch on!
location:
microsoft.com - date:
February 10, 2013
Hi,
Installed Windows 8 on my computer end of Jan 2013.
However, can't install any Window's Apps from Windows 8 Store because W8 Firewall won't switch On. It's in red mode. Have spent many hours on this and this particular issue is not listed in W8 Support.
I already know standard route is go to Control Panel basics/System Security/Firewall/Update Firewall Settings. Nothing happens, stays red.
I've Refreshed my computer.
I've Restored to previous date.
Current Time & Date correct.
Services (Local) reads Windows Firewall.......Automatic........Local Service.
I read this firewall problem is a common issue with W8. Should I simply uninstall the Firewall (can I?) and download Zone Alarm? Is my Firewall corrupted

I bought a refurbished PC from dell(Model XPS8500). It has a spinning drive with Windows 8 installed.

Will this be a problem?
Thanks,

Windows 8: After switch user, windows are swapped to the other monitors
location:
microsoft.com - date:
April 17, 2013
Hello everyone,
Here are my specs:
Dell Optiplex 9010
Windows 8 Pro
Dual monitors
I usually have my Firefox window open on the left monitor, along with my pandion/Skype chat windows. On the right monitor, i have my mailbox and calendar (via outlook).
When i go to the start menu, and use the 'switch account' option, log into another account, and eventually switch back to my first account, all of the windows are swapped to the other monitor... meaning my Firefox/chat is on the right monitor, and my outlook/calendar
is on the left monitor.
The actual orientation of my monitors don't change, as i can still move my mouse from the left to the right by moving it off the right edge of the left monitor on to the right one. So it

Bluetooth Switch Grayed Out (Windows 8)
location:
microsoft.com - date:
January 23, 2013
Hi,
I'm having an issue with my bluetooth on a Windos 8 upgrade laptop. I'm using Intel's Centrino Advanced-N 6235 (driver version 15.5.6.48). The bluetooth switch in wireless settings is grayed out in the off position. It appears three bluetooth related services
are running normally (Bluetooth OBEX Service, Bluetooth Device Monitor, Bluetooth Support Service). I've tried the following:
1. Installing OEM recommended drivers and software
2. Installing the most recent drivers and software from Intel
3. Running the hardware troubleshooter
4. Running the network troubleshooter
5. Uninstalling and reinstalling the network card from device manager
6. Uninstalling all bluetoo

U.S. consumers hesitant to make switch to Windows 8
location:
8forums.com - date:
November 18, 2012
Most Windows users in the U.S. know about Windows 8 but few have immediate plans to upgrade to Microsoft's newest operating system. What's more, about one-third of Windows 7, Windows Vista and Windows XP users who are ready to buy a new personal computer say they intend to switch to an Apple product. Those are the findings of an unusually broad survey of Windows PC users conducted by antivirus company Avast and released exclusively to USA TODAY. The survey results underscore lukewarm response to Windows 8, which introduces a radical new PC user interface involving use of a touch screen in addition to a keyboard and mouse.
Rest of story here:
