location:

Happy New Year. My old computer's HD crashed badly. Needed a new laptop. It came with Windows 8. I never use the metro app. It is disgusting and wasteful and a real hassle to circumnavigate. How do I eliminate this app from Windows 8? I'm serious. Thanks.

I am having problems running updates for my test Windows 8 laptop behind my ISA 2006.
Off the network the updates run fine and if I create an unrestricted rule to the internet for that laptop the updates also work.

I hate windows 8. How can I deinstall it and load windows 7

I agree... the whole system seems to be setup for advertising and marketing... never mind what we actually need/want to use our computer for!! We are not all 15-35 with nothing else to do with our time but play games and purchase products. Sooo frustrating!
(Apologies for all those in the above demographic who do other things too :)).
I agree as well, I do fall outside you age range for Win 8, I am 65years old. I bought my first machine in 1978 which was a Sorcerer and you had to use basic......this was more user friendly than Win 8!!!!
I too want to use the machine for work.

What a Windows 8 U-turn will mean for the PC

Many PC OEMs are dissatisfied with what Microsoft has done with Windows 8 and the way the company has handled the negative response to the operating system. Privately, one OEM source told me that Microsoft is "destroying" the PC industry, while another claimed that Windows 8 has "handed over millions of customers to Apple."
