Windows 7 turned into Windows 8, how did it do it?
location:

I have Windows 7 on my computer. I took some Windows updates the other day, and I always look at them first, and I did not see anything saying "Windows 8", and they all looked like normal updates, so I let them happen. I don't have a time frame but it seems like the next time I started my computer I saw the boot screen coming up looking like Windows 8 (blue square instead of colored squares). At first I thought this was weird, as my computer then booted into Windows 7. Then I noticed my desktop icons (google chromes) had lost their color and were now plain white. I managed to search online to find out how to make them colored again, however next boot they were plain white again. Then I tried rebooting and attempted hitting F

I hate windows 8, how do i downgrade to windows 7?
location:
microsoft.com - date:
December 29, 2013
I have just purchased a laptop with windows 8, and it is the worst operating system I have EVER used. I don't think I had this much difficulty on my very first computer.
I have an iPad also, but really this operating system is so dis- jointed, nothing flows, there's no back button, it is so labourious I really hate it.
I bought a new laptop because my ipad doesn't do certain things, but it is so long winded and frustrating, that I honestly don't think I shall use this \useless laptop.
how can I install windows 7, is it possible, as it was installed with windows 8.

Suggestion Windows 8.1 - Make default option for Apps to automatically be added to start screen (like it was in 8.0 but without desktop app installs)
location:
microsoft.com - date:

One of the biggest drawbacks for 8.1 is initial learning curve. You've enhanced coverage on this with 8.1 but it is still lacking.
I have turned numerous haters into lovers with 10 minutes of sit down time and showing them how it actually works (And several of these people are engineers).
One of the mistakes I believe you made in 8.1 was a good idea but implemented incorrectly.
With 8.0, everything installed was added to the start menu (This included desktop apps which sometimes include several items (desktop app itself, uninstaller, readme, etc). This could make it cluttered and unusable quickly.
With 8.1 you made it so nothing automatically is added to the start menu. This is the extreme the other way, and if
