I would like to run Win 8 on a partition with Windows 7 and wondered if this is possible with the upgrade edition or will I have to purchase the full version. Not quite ready to give 7 up yet and would like to run side by side as I know this was possible with previous versions. Any information appreciated.

Question on Windows 8 Reserved Partition?
location:
8forums.com - date:
March 8, 2013
My desktop came with Windows 7 and I just recently upgraded to Windows 8. My question is about the Windows 8 system reserved partition that is suppose to be 350mb large. My reserved partition is only 100mb in size so does that mean that the partition that is currently on my drive is actually for Windows 7 and not Windows 8. Also does that mean that when Windows did the upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 8 that it incorporated the reserved partition that is suppose to be for Windows 8 into the partition that Windows 8 is installed on or did it not create one at all for Windows 8. I've included a snapshot of disk management that shows the System reserve partition which is 100mb and what was on my hard drive when Windows 7 was installe

Windows 8 Installation Partition Problem
location:
microsoft.com - date:
March 1, 2014
I am trying to do a clean install of Windows 8 in legacy bios mode.
I have just reformated my HDD but I cannot install Windows 8 to the newly formated partition - the error message is "Windows can't be installed on this drive. The selected disk is of the GPT partition style". I have also tried deleting the partition and
installing it to the unformted drive but I get the same error.
How can I format this drive so that I can install Windows 8?

Impossible to dual boot Windows 10 with Windows 8 - GPT partition style
location:
winsecrets.com - date:
January 24, 2015
Hi all,
I tried the usual dual boot scenario to test Windows 10, like I did with Windows 8, and Windows 7 years ago. It doesn't work! All the sites that explain how to do the dual boot are wrong, or only work on old systems.
I'm trying to install from a USB stick. I get the message:
"Windows can't be installed on this disk. Selected disk is of the GPT partition style."
I searched all over the net for a solution. There is none. They all say to erase the whole disk, which um defeats the purpose. This is quite surprising to me since most recent laptops would be UEFI/GPT types, yet MS and Windows experts seem to be oblivious to this problem.

I cannot create a Windows 8 partition as I already have four partition
location:

I want to install Windows 8 Consumer Preview, and create another partition, but I already have four partitions. I have tried partitioning my primary partition, but this does not work as there is a maximum amount of partitions?
One of the partitions I have is a logical partition, but I think it is a default for the Lenovo Recovery OS. Please could someone tell me how to create a partition to install Windows 8?
I have attached a screenshot of how my hard drive is partitioned, to help explanation.
Thank you very much if you help me on this

No "Install on another partition" option while installing Windows 8
location:
7forums.com - date:
April 2, 2012
Hi
I wanted to dual-boot Windows 7 with Windows 8. So, I downloaded a Windows 8 .iso file and I used the Windows 7 USB/DVD download tool to "copy" the Windows 8 installation files onto the USB. After successfully copying the files, I started the installer and proceeded with the steps (insert product key, etc etc...) and after accepting the License terms, I wasn't given an option to install windows 8 on another partition (the installer asks me "What do you want to keep in Windows 8 Consumer Preview?" and gives me three choices... see picture).

yes the max amount of partitions you can have on one hard drive is four your only options are 1. get rid of a partition or 2. get an external hard drive
