How to ensure Windows 8 Firewall is active when using Norton Security
location:

My Windows 8 apps will not update with the use of my 2012 Norton Internet Security suite. The Windows 8 app error message states Windows Firewall service must be active for any Windows 8 app installation or update. When opening Windows 8 Action Center, selecting "security", Network Firewall states Norton Security Suite is on. After selecting View Installed Firewall apps, the listing states Norton Security is on and Windows Firewall is off.
I am unable to have both Norton Security and Windows Firewalls on simultaneously. I am unable to find any assistance from either Norton or Microsoft. Has anyone any suggestions for enabling Windows Firewall service be made active. Inactivating Norton's firewall and activating Windows 8

I am running windows 8 on my pc and i installed the norton 360 that came with it. my firewall has recently turned off and i have tried even restoring to a previous point. because firewall fr windows is off and will not turn on. my system can not download
updates. because of this most of my applications do not work. i have a good understanding of technology so any instructions would be good. Also my WMI repository is consistent as that was one of the options i tried.

Windows 8 Firewall.

Good Morning All, I am having trouble again (with a capital T), I am running Windows Defender and would like to have Windows Firewall running along side it for complete protection. It does not matter what I do the Firewall will not allow me to switch it on and I cannot find out why. My thoughts now are does Defender stop the firewall working? I am trying to think of anything that might stop it but nothing else comes to mind. I have used other security suites but have removed them using "Best Removal Tool" which I think is quite good, so as far as I am aware there should be nothing to stop Windows Firewall from being switched on.
Thanking you in anticipation, very best regards from Keith in Derby.

I have windows defender 8 on my laptop. From time to time I access the Action Centre to check everything is enabled ok. When clicking on the firewall status it would not open & said not responding. I'm worried that the firewall has become disabled. Any
ideas? Thanks

Windows 8 Firewall is preventing me from using the local network

Hey all,
Sometime in the last week, Windows Firewall started blocking me from using my home network. I can access the internet fine, but I can't access any other computers or printers on the network.
Just FYI, I use only Windows Firewall / Windows Defender (no 3rd party security software)
