Windows 8 essentials & mail programs to download, what to do?
location:
microsoft.com - date:
December 5, 2012
Just got a Lenovo IdeaPad U410 Ultrabook, Windows 8. It does not have a mail program. I have read that it's a good idea to download Windows Essentials and Mail 2012, but am very leery of doing anything before I understand what is already bundled on my
new laptop. I would love to hear from others who have this computer to hear their experiences and knowledge about how it works.

I upgraded a new Windows 8 Asus laptop to Windows 8.1 (64b, Home). Since my client did not buy Office 2013 I figured the Mail app could serve as the Default Email Client so I set it up.

If I buy windows 8, can I just download and not install right away?
location:
microsoft.com - date:
January 9, 2013
I bought a new computer with windows 7 (Home edition) in late October 2012 and was told I could purchase the windows 8 upgrade for $14.99. I am not sure that I want to, but would like to keep the option open in case I change my mind down the road. I already
have a computer with Windows 7 Ultimate and I share files bvetween them and also have a remote set up. If I have one computer with windowwss 7 and the other with windows 8 can you network between them? I know that I couldn't with windows 7 and vista. And my
main question, of course, if I buy, do I have to install right away or can I just buy, download and keep on my computer until such a time as I feel that I would like to switch to windows 8?
Thanks for your response.

Windows 8 Pro Mail app does not play wav files?
location:
microsoft.com - date:
January 1, 2013
I really love Windows 8 Pro on my desktop so far and I can say excellent work MS! I am just wondering why is it that Windows 8 Mail in Pro won't play wav files or why aren't you allowed to choose a default program to open them up with instead of having
to save them, title them and then open them up with winamp. This is a real Inconvenience for me and lot of people that have magicjack and digital phone service as I see that it not only effects Windows 8 Pro but Windows 8 Phone and RT as well. If this doesnt
get fixed I think this could hurt sales of any 8 devices not really desktops but surface and phone 8 since Apple and Android don't seem to have this problem.

Using the Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant to download and install received "Windows 8 installation has failed"
location:
microsoft.com - date:
October 26, 2012
Hello, I am having trouble upgrading my Windows 7 to Windows 8.
I used the Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant to purchase and download the Windows 8 upgrade. Everything went smoothly until the installation, where it almost immediately gave me a pop up saying "Windows 8 installation has failed". I have tried running the installer
multiple times with the same results.
What gives? I was really looking forward to using Windows 8, but now I feel like a sucker for getting it on release day...
