New hard drive, Windows 8 Pro product key doesn't work

I had a hard drive failure on a laptop which was running Windows 8. I replaced the hard drive, but now the product key isn't working. It doesn't give a reason, it just says it didn't work. How can I fix this? Thanks.

My Windows 8 Product Key Didn't work
Step 1: Yesterday I purchased a brand new clean virgin hard drive and I purchased Windows 8 Pro at a local Big Box store. This is a full copy. Not an upgrade.
Step 2: I removed all other HDD's from my system and installed Windows 8 on the new Hard Drive. The installation asked for the Product key. I entered it and everything installed perfectly. Windows works great. I Love it.
Step 3 However, When I went to "activate" my copy of Windows 8 and I enter that SAME product key I used to install I get the following message "This key didn't work. Please check it and try again or try a different key." I repeated this step at least 4
different times after reboot

I have purchased an Windows 8 Pro product key, I've entered this during the installation of Windows 8 Pro without any issues. Now Windows has been fully installed it and I'm trying to active the installation with the same product key to find out it isn't
valid.
I've entered the exact same product key I have received in my purchase email from Ervato Distribution GmbH. Ordernumber WD09997509.
What can be done to to solve this issue. My Windows 8 installation is complaining about restarting in 2 days.

Why a VALID product key from an Official Box of the Full Windows 8 Pro 64bit DVD installed on a new hard disk, is rejected as INVALID when Activating Windows at the very end of this installation process?
The PC is a All-in-one Hewlett-Packard Touch Screen of 15 months.

I recently upgraded my windows 7 home premium dell n5030 to windows 8 via the online offer. all was ok until the laptop crashed and i had to do a full factory reset of the laptop. now that i have done this it says i need to activate windows, but i dont have the product key as i saved it on the laptop before crash, and my hotmail account is set to automatically delete emails (i didnt know this until now). i tried on microsoft site to recover my key but it says i havnt purchased one when clearly i have.......
Can anyone help me?

hi, i have bought a windows 8 dvd OEM version from a reputed retailer. i try to have a fresh install on a custom build desktop, when i put the product key inside the dvd cover, if says invalid. how do i get a product key for that? thanks for helping.
