Hi. I paid for an downloaded the Windows 8 Pro Upgrade via the Microsoft website using the upgrade assistant. It said there was no problems applying the update before starting after check the requisites (my laptop is already running the standard version
of Windows 8 so it seemed reasonable).
The update began and at the end it rebooted my machine. During boot up I noticed a message come up saying something happened and it needed to reboot which it did automatically before I could grab the whole message. I was then present with a screen with 3
options asking which OS I wanted to boot. There was two entries for 'Windows 8' both on volume 4 and a 3rd option I can't remember the name of.
I chose the first option and Windows

What REALLY is the windows 8 pro upgrade
location:
8forums.com - date:

So i keep reading over and over again about how there will be a windows 8 pro upgrade for $36 (digital) and $69 (DVD). my question is do these "upgrades" absolutely REQUIRE a previous version of windows to be installed before running or can you simply purchase one and install a completely clean copy of Windows 8 onto a formatted HDD with no version of windows whatsoever...
i'm the type of guy who likes to do a completely clean install of everything and although im hesitant of Windows 8 these prices are hard to pass up since i will most likely move to the OS sooner or later anyway. when i install Windows 8 i plan to do it on a completely wiped and formatted system so my question is, is this possible with the digital c

Windows 7 Pro to Windows 8 Pro Upgrade won't complete
location:

I have a custom-built PC with an Asus P5Q Pro mobo, Intel Q9550 Quad CPU, 8 GB Ram, Asus Radeon HD 4870 graphics card -- single monitor, with nearly 400 GB of hard drive free space running Windows 7 Professional sp 1 64-bit.
I ran the Windows 8 Upgrade Assessment tool and other than telling me that I would need to get a DVD player and my gadgets would no longer be available it did not identify any issues. I clicked next and it suggested I upgrade to Windows 8 Pro. I clicked next and purchased the upgrade and downloaded the install file. That was the last thing that worked.
It goes through the installation without incident until it gets to 65% of setting up devices. Then it says that it encountered an issue that prevents a succe

Windows 8 Pro upgrade IE JavaScript problem
location:
microsoft.com - date:
November 30, 2012
I recently upgraded my Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit PC to Windows 8 Pro with Internet Explorer 10.
Internet Explorer accessed from the Metro Start tile works just fine. When Internet Explorer is opened on the
desktop the functionality on some websites does not work. On one website I visit frequently the website
reports that it cannot proceed as the browser JavaScript is disabled. The internet settings show that it is enabled!
Looking in the "About" menu item there is no indication whether a 32 bit or 64 bit version of Internet Explorer is installed.
Do I need to download Java?
Do I need a different version of Internet Explorer?
Can anyone help please?

Windows 8 Pro upgrade - downgrade rights?
location:
microsoft.com - date:
November 14, 2012
Do downgrade rights for Windows 8 apply to Upgrades as well? or is it only OEM?
For example, if a client has Windows XP Professional now, and they want to upgrade to a newer version of windows, can they buy an upgrade for Windows 8 Pro and exercise downgrade rights to run Windows 7 Pro until they're ready to move on to 8?
Purchasing 8 rather than 7 is a better long term investment but at this point many software vendors still don't support 8 yet so we'll need to run 7 for awhile.
thank you.

downloading Windows 8 Pro Upgrade
location:

Hi. I was curious about the process. I have 2 computers. I want to purchase and download the $39.99 upgrade for Windows 8 Pro to my current computer desktop but I want to install it on another computer.
Is there a problem with that? Or do I have to install it to the computer that downloads the media? My intent is to download it and then burn a DVD and then install on the other computer.
