If I upgrade to windows 8 can I still keep my windows 7 OEM on differetn partition?
location:
microsoft.com - date:
February 7, 2013
Hello folks,
I have windows 7 32 bit OEM on my computer and wonder if I upgrade to windows 8 (already bought) can I still use windows 7 on a different partition?
1 When upgrading to windows 8 does that mean that Microsoft will deactivate my present windows 7 key and I can't use windows 7 any more?
2 I do have an image copy of windows 7 so in theory can I run both versions of windows on different partitions (dual boot) or will windows update check both the windows 7 and windows 8 keys and deactivate one of them?
Just wondering, as there is no way that I want to loose my windows 7 installation of make its product key not recognised or not being able to be activated.
Thanks
DJ

Can I use the $39.99 Windows 8 Pro Upgrade option to upgrade a VMWare Virtual Machine installation of Windows?
location:
microsoft.com - date:
November 25, 2012
I'm a software developer and use virtual machines running on my main development PC for testing my software under different versions of Windows. I'm using VMWare Workstation for my virtual machines. I have a license for each VM I'm using and want to
upgrade one of them from Windows XP Pro to Windows 8 Pro using the $39.99 upgrade deal. My concern is that this deal is only good for installing to physical computers rather than VMs. Can anyone confirm that I won't run into trouble using the $39.99 upgrade
license on a VM?
Thanks!

I am receiving the above error whilst attempting to install the upgrade via the Windows store.
It includes a link to this page What Are PAE, NX and SSE2
I have verified using Coreinfo that my CPU does indeed support those features (It's a single core Sempron2800+)
Any ideas?
I'm currently running Windows 8.0x64 with 2GB RAM
ETA: The title should include CPU at the end
ETA2: Full Coreinfo output

Question about $40 Windows 8 Pro Upgrade
location:
8forums.com - date:
October 26, 2012
Ok, so I decided to grace my laptop with the $40 upgrade, using Microsoft's Upgrade assistant thingie. First off, what happens to the Windows 7 CD-KEY stickered on the bottom of my laptop? Does that become invalidated? Or can I dual boot Windows 7 and Windows 8 ?
Also, is there any way I'll be able to burn the digital download onto a DVD myself to install it fresh, rather than letting it upgrade my current Windows 7 installation?
