Windows 8 Pro Upgrade Product Key can't be used to activate Windows after a clean install
location:
microsoft.com - date:

Hi guys,
I purchased a Windows 8 Pro Upgrade and received the Product Key that I have used to download and perform a clean install of my laptop using a USB Flash Drive (format my HD then install). But now in my brand new installed Windows 8, I can't use that Product
Key to activate Windows as it says that the key is only for an Upgrade, not a clean install. I wasn't aware of this problem when I did the clean install. So how can I activate my Windows now?

Windows 8 Pro upgrade install hangs - can't undo

I have a Dell Studio 15 with 4GB ram and 500GB HD and Windows 7. I bought a Windows 8 pro upgrade and tried to install it. After some initial install reboots, it shows the 4-pane window logo and the rotating dots, but never continues. after several hours
of waiting, the same view is there. If I reboot, it immediately goes to that same screen. No error messages, no way to continue or undo that I can see. There was no suggestion to make an undo or rescue drive, which in retrospect would have been useful.
How can I get it to continue, or how to I go back to Windows 7? I can boot it up with Linux from USB, so I can see that there is no HW problem causing this failure...

Can the Windows 8 Pro Upgrade ISO image burned to DVD be used on a clean install on an OEM laptop?
location:
microsoft.com - date:
November 12, 2012
On one of my laptops, I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 8 Pro. I downloaded the ISO image for Windows 8 Pro.
I recently bought a new ASUS laptop with Windows 8 where I upgraded to Windows 8 Pro. The Windows 8 key is encrypted in the BIOS now and there is no more Windows sticker on the laptop showing the product key.
Can I use the burned Windows 8 Pro ISO image to DVD to reinstall Windows 8 Pro on the ASUS laptop? I read somewhere, which I am not sure if the information is accurate, that the OEM Windows 8 keys will not work on a RETAIL Windows 8/Pro DVDs. Is this correct/true?
Thanks.

Can Windows 8 Pro Upgrade be used to create a dual boot machine?

I have a Windows 7 machine. Would it be possible to install Windows 8 Pro Upgrade on the same machine as a second OS, that is, create a dual boot machine?
I don't want to lose the Windows 7 installation as the Compatibility assistant tells me that a few of the programs won't work in Win 8 until they are updated and I don't know when the updates will be available.

Had a virus that has lost all windows live mail messages, contacts & Firefox bookmarks. Now can only logon as built-in administrator and every time I logon to new session all previous work, history, files, downloads, restore points, everything gone. Now
surrendered to fact will have to find a way to wipe all and start afresh......problem is that laptop originally bought with windows 7 home edition built in (no disc) and backups on other drive not accessible. Running on windows 8 Pro upgrade (Before end of
Jan offer) with problems mentioned above. Have AVG2013 updated. Also no records of purchases on my windows/MS account for either windows 8 Pro upgrade or Office365. No help or useful advise on here since 26 Feb 2013

Can I re-install Windows 8 Pro upgrade on a HDD that needs formatting?

Hi everyone.
I have a laptop dual booted with Windows 7 home premium and Ubuntu 12.04. There was a special offer for Windows 8 Pro on the Microsoft Store that was good so I got it. I downloaded the Windows 8 upgrade assistant and went thru the process etc...It went
smooth enough - before it had to restart that is. Now, I'm having problems logging in because Windows 8 cant recognize the "@" sign when I type in my username and password. Its so frustrating that I have to use the virtual keyboard every time I log in.
My guess is the dual boot and default load sequence where the system chooses Ubuntu by default is messing with the Windows 8 pro loader (it still reads windows 7 loader btw). So my quest
