HELP How to stop Windows 8 Auto Restarting WO/ gpedit.msc
location:
8forums.com - date:
March 3, 2013
I have the regular version of Windows 8, meaning I have no Local Group Policy Editor. This has already been problematic as disabling the lock screen was much more difficult than it should be. Why this was excluded I'll never know...
Anyway, my issue is that my computer auto-restarts right in the middle of my day. I cannot find a way to disable this from happening without the gpedit.msc I have rescheduled maintenance for only 3AM, yet the computer insists on restarting every second or third day with some update, and there's not a damn thing I can do... So any help people???

Windows 8 auto update has made the keyboard and mouse not work
location:

I've had my laptop around a month, this morning it was working fine and when turning it on this afternoon it decided to automatic update and restart. Upon restarting I come to the welcome screen but cant log on because the mouse doesn't work and none of
the keys on the keyboard do either. Rebooting does nothing, and I cant start in safe mode either as I have no useable keys or mouse. Help would be appreciated so I can get my laptop back, thanks.

Windows 8 Auto user log in problem.
location:
8forums.com - date:

I have some strange problem where every time I switch on my computer it will log into another user account and if I switch users it will automatically log in to the same account, and it is very frustrating, I had the normal auto log in problem before and a user messaged me on how to fix it which worked (Changing registry and inheritance but after awhile another problem has appeared. I thought it was just the same problem but the registry hasn't changed. I did find that if I disable the account it will eliminate this but I do not want to do that seeing as how one day it might randomly appear again on another username.

Windows 8 auto update removed all data associated with programs
location:
microsoft.com - date:
April 18, 2013
Last night when I was shutting down, I got the message "install update and shut down". I chose that and this morning when I started Windows, I found that all of the data associated with my programs were missing and the start screen was as if I had just
installed Windows 8. The programs were there but no data. I chatted with a Microsoft support person who told me that Microsoft does not support OEM installed software. She suggested a system restore, which worked. But, what went wrong and can I trust
auto update any longer?
