Internet connection problem in Windows 8
location:
winsecrets.com - date:
February 4, 2013
My local computer technician has just installed 2 SSDs for me, and Win7 Pro is on one with Win 8 Pro on the other. I have no problem with either OS, except that in Win 8 I can't connect to the internet. Network diagnostics says my computer is configured correctly, but I can't connect to any website. I checked Services and I can't see anything wrong there.
Help resolving this problem would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks and regards, Roy

Very slow WiFi speeds on Windows 8?
location:
winsecrets.com - date:
November 8, 2012
Hi all, I'm back again.
Been having wifi problems with windows 8 since day one with my PackardBell Easynote TK85. It's a huge downfall for me cuz I do a lot of video/ audio streaming.
I have a Broadcom Wireless 802.11N Network Card.
Before winows 8, I would generally get speeds of between 3.25mbps dwn and 4 mbps down speed.
But since the upgrade, I've been extremly lucky to even get 0.80 mbps down speed. Terrible speeds.
But when I plug my laptop in to my router (via CAT5 Ethernet cable), I'm getting my old speeds of 3.2 -> 4 mbps down.
I have done a lot of trouble shooting and it appears that the problem lies between my network card and my router.
On all my other devices (Other laptop, tabet, phone) I still get my

An awful experience with Windows 8 "free" Media Center
location:
winsecrets.com - date:
January 6, 2013
This is intended as a warning to others who may see themselves as starting down a path similar to mine when attempting to add the limited-time offer of the "free" Media Center to Windows 8.
My advice is this: If you see the process going the way mine did, quit while you are ahead.
Before I describe all of the processes and troubles I went through, below are the initial steps ("warning signs") that happened to me and may show that you are entering the same territory:
If you go to the website that offers "For a limited time, get Windows 8 Media Center Pack for free" (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/w.../feature-packs ), then you enter your e-mail address and satisfy the Captcha, and if you DO NOT receive t

I didn't know that Windows 8 did not contain Windows Office. Is it possible to uninstall this Windows 8, have it refunded, and just get the Windows 8 version that has Windows Office?
location:
microsoft.com - date:
March 30, 2013
So basically I've spent roughly $80 on something that doesn't have what I need. I was apparently misinformed. I just really really want the office for school, etc. I thought Windows 8, being the new thing, would have that. Then "Windows 8 Pro" was on the
box, so I was like "oh, this has to be the full set". Apparently not. Bottom line, is there a way to get the Office programs (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, in particular) into this computer? I don't care if with or without the Windows 8 OS, but I'd really rather
have my money back from the Windows 8 if I could have just added the Windows Office without the 8 part. Thanks

Can I remove Windows 8 from one computer and install on the other?
location:

Original Title: Could someone from Microsoft help me understand a thing, please?
Hello.
Could someone from Microsoft help me understand a thing, please?
I bought a win 8 pro using my activated vista oem. In the EULA it's stated that I can install it on another computer of mine with the condition to uninstall it from the first one. On April I intend to buy a new computer and judging from what I'm reading in
the Eula I will be able to install win 8 pro on it.
If I am right could you please explain me what the procedure will be?
- I have to install win vista (already certified) and after that win 8?
- Will I be able to make a clean install without any other win version and still activate it?
- Will I be able to activate

Poor font rendering in Windows 8 (blurry text)
location:
microsoft.com - date:
February 24, 2013
Apparently there is a huge problem with font rendering in Windows 8. Text appears very blurry. Programs affected by the new rendering are: Internet Explorer 10, the modern interface (start screen), Office 2013 and other 3rd party applications
that rely on this rendering technology. There is no way to fix this problem, unless Microsoft recognizes it.
I 've gathered links bellow that refer to the same problem to highlight its importance and display the number of users that are affected:
