Question about $40 Windows 8 Pro Upgrade
location:
8forums.com - date:
October 26, 2012
Ok, so I decided to grace my laptop with the $40 upgrade, using Microsoft's Upgrade assistant thingie. First off, what happens to the Windows 7 CD-KEY stickered on the bottom of my laptop? Does that become invalidated? Or can I dual boot Windows 7 and Windows 8 ?
Also, is there any way I'll be able to burn the digital download onto a DVD myself to install it fresh, rather than letting it upgrade my current Windows 7 installation?

Transferring activated Windows 8 pro upgrade to another PC (but will be only active on one PC)
location:
microsoft.com - date:
December 16, 2012
I have recently bought and installed Windows 8 Pro (32) upgrade on my PC, now I must get a new CPU and have decided to get the Windows 8 Pro (64) upgrade. So I want to install my 32 version on my daughter's PC. My question is,
how will Microsoft know that I have transferred it to another PC and am not using that key any more on my own PC? Will there be a problem activating it or must I call support for this?
I have not yet downloaded the 64 version yet, as I must get the CPU and reinstall my Windows 7 first.

Upgrade from Vista Ultimate to Windows 8 (via temporary Windows 7)
location:
microsoft.com - date:
January 20, 2013
I would like to upgrade from Vista Ultimate x64 to Windows 8 Pro. I understand that this would normally mean I would have to reinstall all of my applications. I was wondering whether there was another way.
Is it possible to first upgrade to Windows 7 (without buying a licence key at this stage), then
immediately upgrade to Windows 8 Pro and then enter the newly purchased licence key for Windows 8?
The Windows 8 upgrade offer expires at the end of Jan so really want to purchase the upgrade before then, but this depends on whether I can create a seamless upgrade from Vista. Any help much appreciated.
Thanks,
