<ASK>Windows 7 FPP; Activation no.of times limit? Online act. blocked?
location:

Dear everyone, like the title suggest...
is there a limit on ho w many times you do a clean install and online activation on your windows 7 FPP?
because... the weirdest thing just happened to me, i formatted my Windows 7 6 times in the last 15 days... same computer, and.... the last time i tried to activate online, it failed.
The error code said something like... "Activation code cannot be used on the server something..., you have to buy new product key something..."
called the MS CS and all is well, but... im just wondering, if i ever do a clean reinstall again... do i have to call MS CS again...?
Is my FPP product key blocked forever from online activation...?
Activating by phone is supposedly okay. It's just...

Network Printer IP address constantly changing
location:
winsecrets.com - date:
February 1, 2011
Hi to all..
the issue I have is as the title suggests. I have several PC's in the house to which I have installed the printer drivers without any issues. However the majority of the time when I need to print something on one of the computers, it nearly always changes the IP address, sometimes it 192.168.0.3 or 4 or 5. So I then have to go back into the printer properties and change it accordingly.
My question is; Is there a way I can bind the printer to just one ip address rather than my router constantly changing it?

Reinstalled Windows 7, now wireless no longers works !
location:

I have an Alienware m15x running windows 7 64bit and recently reinstalled to try and improve performance. I installed using the cd, and then used the resource cd to install any drivers. Everything on the disk was installed, but I still can't connect to any wireless networks. Troubleshooting either says there are no networks available, or that I need to connect an ethernet cord.
I downloaded all drivers from the alienware and dell sites, and sill nothing.
When I open device manager, I have a yellow exclamation point next to "Network Controller". it is listed in device manager as "pci/ven 145&dev_4353&SUBSYS_000E1028&REV_01"
I've tried all drivers, reinstalling and installing drivers in different orders

Windows 7 WITHOUT SP1. No may updates on tuesday. Manual updates ok?
location:
7forums.com - date:
May 18, 2013
My folks PC has Windows 7 and since it has been working perfectly they chose NOT to install SP1 until absolutely required.
This past Tuesday their computer received none of the normal security updates or patches. It did strangely receive the May 2013 Malicious Software Removal Tool but that was it.
What I want to know is it OK to manually download the latest security updates (for May 2013) and will the OS recognize them without a problem and if I do this would it conflict with when I actually install SP1 at a later date.
Any experts please chime in. Thanks.

Help: Windows 7 + Java + Firefox = No Applets
location:
7forums.com - date:

Hi,
I am having an issue where Java applets do not run. I've gone searching the web via google and bing looking for solution and most of them came to this site. I've tried all solutions presented, but none have worked.
I've gone to Sun's website, and Mozilla website for support and have also tried all their suggestion. (Sun's seems very outdated)
With all my searching I've found several people have the same issue so I would think Sun and/or Mozilla would have a special topic on it.
Things I've tried and can be ruled out:
My account is an administrator account. Re-install Firefox 3.6.3. Re-install Java 1.6u20. Cleared out all entries of Java Applet Plugin from Firefox plug-in manager. (There were none.) Attempted to &q

Windows 7 - There are No Icons or Taskbar on my Desktop
location:
7forums.com - date:
May 5, 2012
When I start Windows 7 only the wallpaper shows up, there are no icons or task bar. This is a newer HP desktop computer, only 4 months old and has very little use and almost nothing loaded on it.
The problem is intermittent. Somethings it boots normally with full icons and taskbar (but the problem returns in a day or two, or the next time I restart the computer).
I have seen on other posts to check whether "explorer.exe" is running. Have checked Task Manager and it is.
Antivirus Programs (all up to date and run several times with no issues (in safe mode))
1. Microsoft Security Essentials
2. AVG 2012
3. Malwarebytes
4. CCleaner
Have run System Restore 10 to 15 times (sometimes will restore to normal for a day or two, then pro

XP can't see Windows 7 in network places
location:
7forums.com - date:

I have two computers. I'll call them "mine" and "his".
"mine" has both Vista and Windows 7 installed (dual boot), "his" has XP Home.
When I boot "mine" into Vista, the networking works perfectly. Vista and XP can see files and printers and all is great.
When I boot "mine" into Windows 7, I can see "his" computer and access his files and his printer. However "his" computer doesn't even see "mine" show up in My Network Places.
I've checked the workgroup in Windows 7 and it's the correct name.
I've gone to the Network and Sharing Center in Win 7 and set my Network to "Home network".
I played briefly with the "HomeGroup" thing in W

Windows 7 PC network problems with Windows XP PC if wireless
location:
microsoft.com - date:
May 19, 2010
My windows 7 pc won't detect my xp computer unless it is wired to the router instead of operating on a wireless connection. I can connect to a vista pc fine but not the xp one. Also, the vista pc can connect fine to both computers and it's on a wireless
connection. The xp computer is on a wired connection to the router.
How can I fix it so I can detect all computers on the network without having to switch from a wireless connection to a wired one?

Windows 7 Mapping Network Drive Error: "Error code: 0x80070035 The network path was not found"
location:
microsoft.com - date:
March 23, 2010
I recently started to get an error when trying to access my network drive. In attempts to fix it I also disconnected the drive and tried to reconnect. I keep getting the error:
Error code: 0x80070035 The network path was not found
I am able to map to the drive from every other machine in the house hold (Mac OS X, Windows XP, Windows Vista). However, the Windows 7 machine continues to report the error.
I've searched the internet for answers and microsoft's website and so far no one seems to have an answer the problem (and it appears to be a very common problem in Windows 7 based on the number of reports I ran into in my search). I'm able to reach the drive
via the IP address but unable to log into it (continues to re-prompt for cr
