Office XP won't print to USB printer in Windows 7
location:
winsecrets.com - date:

Just installed Office Xp in a new Win7 laptop. Word and Excel won't find the USB printer to print to. Wordpad, Firefox and Adobe Reader will. Is Office Xp incompatible with Windows 7? There is a "trial" version of Office included in the computer that I've never opened.

Sharing B/w Windows XP and Windows 7 via Single Wifi-Modem
location:
7forums.com - date:
July 22, 2011
Hello, I have a laptop having windows 7 in it and a desktop having Windows XP SP3, both the laptop and Desktop are connected to a single wifi-modem[I don't have any router b/w, my modem has wifi and router in it in simple it is a router, a modem and a wifi device ] The problem is when i tries to do sharing b/w my desktop & laptop, neither I can see my laptop in 'My network Places' at desktop nor see my desktop on my laptop.
I've done all the basic steps: like by workgroup is same, and all necessary things in 'Network and sharing' at win 7. I still cant see see the computers, though i can ping my laptop from desktop and my desktop from the laptop.
P.S: Laptop is connected through WIFI and Desktop is connected through wire.

Sharing files between Windows 7 and XP Home
location:
7forums.com - date:

(sorry if this is answered elsewhere, but I couldn't find it)
I am unable to share files from my XP Home PC on Windows 7. I can however share those from Windows 7 on the XP PC!
I have explored all the relevant settings I can find in Windows 7 and no change.
I have both PC's in the same workgroup and I login into each with the same username/password. I have file sharing set-up on both.
I have tried it with Network discovery turned on and turned off.
I haven't created a Homegroup on Windows 7 as I asume that is just for sharing with another Windows 7 PC. In any case it tells me I can't set it up without IPv6 configured. Tho' puzzlingly the n/w card shows that IPv6 IS configured!
Both have the same security installed i.e., Windows firewall

Sharing files between a Windows XP PC and a Windows 7 PC over a home network
location:
microsoft.com - date:
December 17, 2009
In order I did:
-Downloaded LLTD Responder, installed, restarted
-Pinged each computer from the other and received error, "Ping request could not find host "computer". Please check the name and try again."
-Turned off password sharing in Win7
-Created a "Share" folder on C: drive on each comp.
-There was no "Simple file sharing" option under folder options.
-Left Homegroup
-Disabled Norton on XP computer
Computer was still not visible in network. Tried entering IP into IE with no success but was able to access it by Running \\OldHP
Currently copying 32 gigabytes (3 hours to go)
I blame Norton.
Thanks.

It seems to be, in part, a firewall issue with me. Stopping the xp firewall and w7 can access the shares. I need to see what aspects are the preventers and thought I'd got it enabling netbios, but no.
Stopping the w7 firewewall does not ley xp see w7, and a user name and password is demanded, that I had not set up
Well done Microsoft, an evening wasted.

Networking a USB printer via a router (Windows 7 & XP)
location:
microsoft.com - date:
March 11, 2011
At home i'm having trouble connecting computers to the network printer which runs through the router (Brother MFC-7340 via USB on BigPond Elite Wireless).
We have 2x Windows 7 laptops (32 & 64bit), 2x Windows 7 desktops(32 & 64bit), 1x XP Laptop (32bit) & 1x XP Desktop (32bit) all computers are wireless except the XP desktop which is connected via cable to the router.
as mentioned above the printer is connected to a USB port in the router & the only computer that is able to print is the XP desktop.
No matter what i try i can't get any windows 7 computers to reconise the printer properly and print to it.
When you click add printer > add network,bluetooth... printer &nb

Windows 7 access to a shared printer on XP
location:

I am having what seems to be a very common issue - Windows 7 computer unable to access a shared printer connected to an XP Home machine.
I have tried tried several of the "fixes" suggested in this forum but no luck.
Here is the configuration. I have an HP printer connected to an XP Home machine.
The printer is shared and I can access it from another desktop (XP Home) connected to the local network via a cable and a laptop (XP Professional) connected via a wireless connection.
I have another Windows 7 laptop (Lenovo X61 tablet) where I am having trouble. First, I can see the computer and printer in the networking section. When I click on the printer to access it I get an "Windows cannot connect to the printer, Access i

I tried searching this before couldn't find a thread with the issue I have...
1) Windows 7 64bit has a Samsung ML-2510 USB printer installed
2) I shared the printer in Windows 7

5) Windows Xp laptop is a work machine and part of a domain, so I can NOT change the workgroup to "Workgroup"
6) Tried installing the printer using \\Win7Machine\Samsung command in Winxp run dialog
