Windows 7 (recovered)??what does this mean??
location:

Well straight to query rather than a problem.I tried to install windows xp on my DELL laptop running windows 7 but it gave error so someone here suggested changing SATA controller from AHCI to ATA in BIOS.After i restarted laptop it gave windows 7 error saying its detecting hardware change or something with option of start up repair.Well in short i changed SATA controller back to AHCI and now windows 7 is working perfectly normal apart from in msconfig it shows "windows 7 home premium (recovered)"/i tried ubuntu as wubi (installed within windows) there also in boot up screen it showed "windows 7 (recovered). Is this a serious problem or i am thinking too much??
Btw i didnt install windows xp.

What does it mean Windows 7 ultimate x86 x64?
location:
7forums.com - date:

Hello,
I just want o knwo if i can install a windows 7 ultimate 64 bit version from this cd?
I got a copy rom a friend of mine and on the cd it said w7u x86 x64....
I am confused because i have 32 bit version(x86) and i want x64....is it possible for both versions to be on this cd?
If so...how can i choose the x64?
And another thing...after installing the x64 version...can i run a backup from the x32?
In the idea not to spend t much time to reinstall all the drivers....or that would be a bad idea?
Best regards

"Windows 7 Build 7601 Copy not genuine" What does this mean and how do I fix it?
location:
microsoft.com - date:
August 23, 2012
This is a new issue (for me) and I am lost on it. Have been reading around and getting conflicting info on how to address this issue.
HP says it is a motherboard issue and would require the laptop to be sent in for repair at a cost of around $300-$400. Other fixws include simple seeming deletions of an .exe file.
Before I do any of that, I would much prefer a more direct answer from someone who has had this issue and knows the right answer.
Any ideas and assistance would be Greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Windows versions: What does this mean?

Hi, I wanted find the differences between Windows 8 versions so did a search with "windows 8 versions" and got this...
Which Windows is right for you? - Microsoft Windows
I found the following -- please note the two asterisks for "Windows 8 **" and then the applicable footnote.
Are there version changes afoot after February 1st?
Should I rush out and buy a Windows 8 laptop now?
Will there be more or fewer version and/or options?
Is this about crippled versions after Feb-1st with various degrees of crippling?
Anyone in the know on this as February 1st rushes towards us?
From the MS site.

location:

Hi, there are multiple Windows 7 upgrade deals out there, but i was wondering instead of installing vista first would you be able to just install the RTM and put the key in there and all will be good?
Also, has OEM pricing been released at all yet?
thanks!

When I try to import a video from my Ipod into Windows Movie Maker 6.0 it says I need to install a codec. What does that mean?
location:
microsoft.com - date:
March 13, 2013
It says,
The file C:\Users\admin\Desktop\IMG_0230.MOV cannot be imported because the codec required to play the file is not installed on your computer. If you have already tried to download and install the codec, close and restart Windows Movie Maker, and then try
to import the file again.
I tried to use Quick Time Player, VLC, and a .MOV but none of them work. (I am not very good at this so I am not sure if any of those things are the same or if it was already .MOV.
Thanks!

Install Windows 7 RTM with Windows 7 OEM key
location:

I plan on buying an Acer Aspire One netbook that comes with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit installed. I saw that there is some Acer crapware built into it, such as the Login/Lockscreen background having an Acer image instead of the Windows 7 login screen background.
So I was wondering if I could re-install Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit by downloading the generic Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit iso from Digital River, and use the product key that my Netbook came with to activate it?
That way I would have a clean Windows 7 install, and not the modified Acer Windows 7 install.
Thanks in advance!
