location:

After I tried to make a dual boot with Ubuntu and Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit), Windows now does not boot. I have tried to reinstall and repair the HDD but the disc fails to recognize my HDD (Western Digital Scorpio Black 500 GB). My HDD is Basic, has 3 primary partitions and 1 extended (3 logical). Ubuntu 11.10 can boot fine.

Will Windows 7 install CD be able to find and fix PARTITION problems....automatically?
My Windows 7 computer does not boot up to Desktop.
I am thinking that I can use a Windows 7 install CD to fix this.
But, I wonder if install CD can find my PRESENT PARTITION SETTINGS...in order to re-install my settings/files?
I want to be able to save my settings/files.
Or, am I just taking a chance, the upgrade will work?

USB hard drive a bootable Windows 7 install disk
location:
7forums.com - date:
November 13, 2008
This article refers to the Hard Drives issued at PDC, but it also applies to using ANY USB hard drive as a bootable disk.
Tip: make your PDC 2008 USB hard drive a bootable Windows 7 install disk
If you’re one of eight thousand people lucky enough to attend PDC 2008 last week and receive the ultra-cool 160GB portable hard drive with “the goods” then I have some extra good news for you, your hard drive can also become a bootable Windows 7 install disk. The best part is that you don’t even have to delete any of the existing files on the drive since there’s about 90GB free of the 160GB drive.
This is especially handy if you’re trying to install Windows 7 on a device without a DVD drive or if you don

In need a Windows 7 install disk or Windows 7 ISO image.

I have active OEM product keys (HP) for Windows 7 Home Premium Edition and Windows 7 Starter. I have no need for their peripheral offers and bundled software. I am wanting to format the drives and do clean installs of Windows 7, without the computer
manufacturer's peripherals. As I already have valid product keys, how do I obtain the Windows 7 Home Premium and Windows 7 Starter install disks, or download the software from MS's website?

Windows 7 - The selected disk has an MBR partition table. On EFI systems, Windows can only be installed to GPT disks
location:

When trying to install W7 in 64-bit form using an Intel DP45SG mainboard. I get the error message "The selected disk has an MBR partition table. On EFI systems, Windows can only be installed to GPT disks."
I have a new (SATA) hard drive that I am trying to install to. I guess I need to do something to change the formatting/partitioning. Where do I go from here?
I installed the W7 32-bit version and it works like a champ.

Aborted Windows 7 Install created small unusable partition
location:
microsoft.com - date:
January 12, 2013
Building my PC I installed an SSD for the OS and 1Tb 7200rpm drive for D: but after initiating Windows 7 Ultimate install disk I aborted the install which created an approximate 100Mb Reserved Partition which I was unable to reformat on the second go around.
Not thinking it would be a problem I continued installation successfully, but that small partition has grown to concern me. My system now freezes, and twice has given me a Blue Screen Crash. After the PC stops working I try doing a Hard Boot, but the screen
is black and states there is no Bootable Drive. I suspect the small partition is creating this No Boot Drive Error. I need to know if there is a way I can repair the SSD by Mounting this partition or ReInstallin

Moving Windows 7 Install from larger disk to a smaller one
location:

I want to move my Windows 7 install from its current 698GB drive to a new 160GB SSD. From what I've read I can create a backup and install it in a new drive but that new drive must be equal to or greater than the old drive. Is there something I can do
to work around this?

Will Windows 7 install on a second partition?
location:
microsoft.com - date:

My laptop is dual booting Vista Basic and Ubuntu Linux. I want to delete the Linux install and replace it with Windows 7. When I ran the install disk, it said that it could not install on a non-NTFS partition.
Is there a way to reformat that partition from Vista? I tried to use diskpart, but it says it cannot format a partition without selecting a volume. When I display the volumes, it does not show the Linux partition.
Unfortunatly, I have lost my Install Disk. I have my Product Key, but no disk, so the Repair Utility will not be available to me. Ubuntu also has no utility to uninstall itself.
Can anyone help me?
