Windows 7 wont turn off my laptop after shutdown
location:
7forums.com - date:

Hi. I have been searching forever on forums for an answer, and i'm sorry, I can't find a solution that works for me.
I installed a legit copy of Windows 7 Ultimate x64, and when I shut down the laptop, it goes through the normal processes, says logging off, then shutting down, then the screen goes black, but laptop remains on. My power button is lit up, my fans still run. The only way to get it to physically shut down is to hold that power button down. Same thing when I try to sleep it, or even restart. All my drivers are up to date, no conflicts in device manager. What is going on here?

How do backup a Windows 7 Machine to a Network attached Drive (WD Worldbook) -- using the Windows backup utility?
location:

When I use the tool, it only lists a DVD drive as an option to backup, it does not find the network drive (and the tool does not seem to give you an option to search for it manually -- just has a refresh button). Any help would be great.

How to record TV with Media Center (Windows 7) to a network drive?

Well, you would think that Windows 7's new MediaCenter would be up to the task of recording your TV to a network share/drive. Too bad, it looks like it's just not possible.
I have a windows 2008 R2 server, and a Windows 7 machine with a TV card. Since my server has 2TB of storage, it would be nice to record directly to it's networked drive. (I mounted it as Z:).
I tried the following:
Selecting it in Media Center Itself: Not working. Not available. Editing the registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Media Center\Service\Recording , setting RecordPath to Z:\TV . Not working.
Editing the registry: setting RecordPath to \\server\TV . Not working. Creating a Symlink (mklink \D ) to Z:\TV and \\server\TV an

Windows 7 Features Turn On/Off Issues
location:

I am getting this message every time I try to turn off a feature, "An error has occurred. not all of the features were successfully changed."
I was able to turn off some features about a month ago, but now it won't let me. It doesn't matter which feature I try to turn off. For ex. I tried turning off DVD Maker, XPS, Gadget platform, etc. SFC comes up clean.

How to record TV with Media Center (Windows 7) to a network drive?

Why don't y'all just create a vhd on the network and map it in windows 7, then maybe share the folder if needed, but all other extenders and computers will be able to reach it anyway...
I just added a thin provisioning vhd drive so it aint even taking no space till its used..
And all my servers and storage are bonded, so the storage network may be more reliable then the sata card.
Also if microsoft was concerned about us not having a smooth recording, they should of just gave us a a disclaimer like they give us with everything eles...
If people running there virtual servers on network drives... then i believe a little tv recording should be an option
