Error code: 0x490 Windows 7 freezes at startup.
location:

Original Title: Start Up Windows Freezes, only works on the third time starting CPU.
I am having problems with my PC booting up properly. I get to the screen where it says starting windows and it will get stuck with a small red dot above the words. I will then have to hard shutdown and it won't recognize my keyboard on the next startup
so then I have to hard restart again and then I can get it to the log in screen and use the PC normally. I have done a system restore from a date before I had the issue and that did not work. If I run the system repair it fails and it says there is 1 root
cause and gives me the error of 0x490. Sometimes it will tell me that a driver I recently installed may be causing the is

Windows 7 freezes up, startup issues
location:

Hello, I have a
Acer Aspire TimelineX AS5820T-6401 laptop running Windows 7 64 bit. Since about Sept. 29, 2012 I have been having issues with my computer. It will sometimes freeze up while closed and in sleep mode; the fan gets really loud and the screen is black
and unresponsive. This wouldn't be such a big deal, except I'm also having issues starting Windows; it frequently freezes up at some point in the Loading Windows screen where the four little colored dots swirl together to make the Windows Logo. When it prompts
me to run Startup Repair the results say that "a patch is preventing Windows from starting up," but it says that everything else is okay. I also ran a chkdsk and everything seemed to look good there as well. After runnin

location:

On windows 7 I got "system error memory dump files" when I tried to use the disk cleaner. My computer is slowing and doesn't follow mouse arrow well.
Advice so far is to use "disk cleanup" to deleat these files however disk cleanup dialog doesn't offer the choice to deleate "system error memory dump files" so what should I do?

Crikey!
You people are doings things 'hard way'!
With "How to manage/remove Start-up Programs in Windows 7?", ..............
ALL I have ever done is to find the Start-up program (in the 'All Programs' list, have a good look at what is there, then, VERY SIMPLY, delete those I don't want to open up at START-UP!
When a RESTART is done, the program (s) I DELETED does NOT start up.
In Start-up, ever again!
Period!
Some software packages will place their TITLE...in Start up, without your consent.
And, this is 'how' I get rid of them. I already have that same title..........in the "All Programs" list, anyway!

Recently had to re-install Win7 on a new Dell desktop. I find that there is no Startup folder appearing in the list of programs accessed via the Start button. On the original install it was there. How can I get it back?
