Windows 7 How do I cleanup winsxs folder to free up space on SSD drives?
location:

Hello.
I am currently using windows 7 RC Build 7100, installed on a expensive Solid State Drive (SSD).
One of the things that sounds promissing about windows 7 is the future SSD support it will have
As mentioned on this site:
http://blogs.msdn.com/e7/archive/2009/05/05/support-and-q-a-for-solid-state-drives-and.aspx
Unfortunately Window 7's overall footprint is quite large (in comparison to xp or linux) and thus eats up a lot of expensive space on SSD drives.
One problem i am currently facing is that over time the winsx folder "C:\Windows\winsxs" has increased in size and has become very large thus eating up even more of my total available SSD space.
Currently this folder alone is now occu

Activating the retail of Windows 7 - how?
location:
7forums.com - date:
October 12, 2009
Hi Sevenforums!
This is my first post here so I'll introduce myself very quick. I'm Nicolai, I live in Denmark and I am a Windows fanatic. Now that was short!
Anyway, I recently managed, through my work, to legally get a copy of the Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit retail, and I'm just loving it so far! I am however, quite messy, and I have a feeling that the little piece of paper containing my serial number will be gone very soon.
So ehrm, can I activate Windows 7 without waiting for the 30 days to pass? If yes, how?
Also, I know this is a bit off-topic, but where do learn to modify the right-click context menu via Regedit? I tried downloading some files on here and it did frankly not work for me :\
Thanks a lot in advance!!

Windows 7 - Stuck on Classic theme, other themes not working
location:
7forums.com - date:

I have tried everything trying to fix this problem to no avail. Yesterday, I used the program "Eraser" to wipe my free disk space, but a popup came up saying my memory was running low, even though I had about 500GB left, so I exited from the program even though it looked almost complete.
Later yesterday I opened a word document and a popup came up saying I didn't have enough memory and that it had to change fonts, so I restarted my computer. When I restarted my computer my theme was changed to Windows Classic and I have not been able to change it back.
A thread I read similar to this was: My taskbar is stuck on classic. but unfortunately none of those solutions worked. I have tried:SFC /SCANNOW with a repairable Windows 7 dis

Ubuntu to Windows 7 --how do I install downloaded software?

Replaced my hard drive recently, and have been running Ubuntu since the reinstall.
Downloaded a full version Windows 7, still currently running Ubuntu. Can I install it without disks? If so, how? If not, can I burn a bootable disk or USB flash drive from the download?
And, no, unfortunately I don't have recovery disks. Got 'em on order from Toshiba, but I don't want to wait if I don't have to.

Virtual PC for Windows 7 - How to drag and drop or transfer files
location:
microsoft.com - date:
June 7, 2010
I am attempting to use Virtual PC for Windows 7 and am having difficulty in working out how to transfer files from my host system into a Virtual PC I have created.
I was previously using Virtual PC (VPC) 2007 under Vista and am familar with just draging and droping files to and from my host system to the VPC.
I have enabled the integration services and am not sure what user the VPC actually wants. i.e. Does it want me to set up a user Local to the VPC or to the host.
I was able to login to the VPC using a user account that is local to the VPC, but for the life of me cannot figure out how to transfer files like I used to.
To acheive what I need, I have to copy files to a shared location on my network that both my PC and the VPC has acces

Windows 7 - How to make taskbar "Tab" wider?

Hi everyone. Just reinstalled Windows 7 64bit on my new Crucial m4 SSD. However....
I have my taskbar set to never combine so that there's no icons.
My previous install of Windows 7, I found a registry hack where I can make the "Tabs" on the taskbar wider. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I found a million threads on how to make the icons bigger and the auto preview bigger.
What I'm looking for:
Example:I want my taskbar to show
