Windows 7 has slowed almost to stop even in safe mode

I was running Chrome with quite few tabs open (17-25) on an ASUS Laptop. And then everything just stopped responding. I tried restarting the pc and was stuck at the "welcome" part of logging on for 1h+ before shutting it off and starting i safemode. It actually logs in, but when i click start it takes 1-2 minutes for the start window to pop up and when i click on anything in there (in safe mode mind you) it takes 5-10 min before it opens control panel or anything else. I dont know whats wrong. The only other issue i have is sometimes my computer would glitch out while doing something with graphics and the sound would sound like bass from a techno song and everything would go all choppy on my screen for 1-3 seconds but then it wou

I don't mean to "bump" an old thread so I'm going to post a new topic. I have been all over the internet, and searched FAR AND WIDE, even tried rewording things many different ways, but nothing is helping and so now I'm here. My username should just about explain to you what mental state I am in right now. I have been CRYING actual tears. This is not in jest, I'm a girl.
I'm not a computer whiz. I just need to know how I can gain permission to delete a file on my computer. I am running Windows 7. I used to have XP before that. BUT this file was not on XP it's been added since the switch. "Replace owner on sub containers and objects" This checkbox is NOT available for me. Is there a patient person that can go

Windows 7 has updated and installed the last 15 times I have shutdown
location:

Hi,
First post
Every time I shut down my computer it updates and installs 2 updates. This takes about 20 minutes.
It surely is not the case that Microsoft has updated Windows 7 everyday for the last few weeks.
Is there anyone having the same issue, or can help me at all.
Thank you.

Windows 7 has High CPU Usage and slow performance
location:

I have a similar problem. Did lots of what people suggest on this forum, nothing worked. Until I unplugged all external devices, including a second monitor. Turned out that it is the monitor that causes the problem. As long as I don't use the second monitor
everything is fine.
I am using a Dell Precision 6400 notebook with an NVIDIA Quattro 2700M videocard.
Playing with the settings of the NVIDIA driver didn't help.
Any ideas? Thanks a lot.

My Toshiba laptop (Satellite P755-0CN) running Windows 7 Professional and McAfee protected has begun taking anything from 20-30 minutes and even longer to make a connection to the Internet at start up. Same problem with initial email connection. A spare
laptop, also Toshiba, running Windows XP has no problem using the same Wifi system. My ISP tech support thinks it may be a settings problem - where do I start looking? What am I looking for? Thanks, Paul

My Windows 7 has crashed after a system recovery and I cannot reboot snce Could someone help me?
location:

I have an Acer Aspire7540 laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium. On Friday I performed a system Recovery on 4/5/13 have not been able to reboot since.
I went to the Acer site and their video showed pressing Alt F10 to begin a system recovery. I have attempted this twice and I get a black screen with the statement “Please wait a moment“.
I have done this and both times after waiting over 2 hours the screen remains the same and I power off.
How can I get this machine back up?
