Windows 7 Desktop shortcut and file icons change to default
location:
microsoft.com - date:
March 27, 2013
The shortcut icons for Office 2010 applications on my desktop and the icons for office and acrobat files have reverted to some kind of default icon.
Attempting to recreate the icon cache and rebooting did not work.
The Microsoft fix-it only rearranged the icons without restoring the correct ones.
Attempting to right click and reset the program that the files should open with does not change the icons back to normal
Can someone please tell me:
1) How I can create/get a new set of icons
2) Where I should copy this set of icons to
3) How to make sure that Windows 7 is directed to the exact location of these icons AND uses them
I am ok with making changes to the registry if I have to.
Thanks in advance for your hel

Consensus on getting Windows 7 desktop look & feel?
location:
8forums.com - date:
February 17, 2013
I just ordered an Asus Zenbook that will have Windows 8-64 on it. It is replacing an old Sony laptop that was running Vista. My wife and I use the laptop for photo & video preview & backups when we travel. She is used to Win7 of course and would not like to have to learn the new Windows 8 Metro desktop etc.
I've read about several softwares that attempt to make Windows 8 look more or less like Win7, but without being able to try them it's hard to decide which is best. So my question is - is there a general consensus of which one is best?

My laptop does not have a touch screen, so is there a way to restore the look and feel of the Windows 7 desktop and get rid of the Windows 8 interface? Windows 8 may be the best thing since sliced bread on a tablet or other device with a touch interface
but it's useless on a laptop with out a touch screen.

How do I change the Windows 7 Keyboard Shortcuts
location:

I would like to know how I can change/disable some of the
Windows 7 Keyboard Shortcuts.
I find half of them useful, however I would like to change either the key combinations or disable some of the key combinations.
Before upgrading to Windows 7, I used to use a virtual desktop application (virtuawin) on Windows XP that allows windows to be grouped into different virtual desktops. I assign
Win + 1, Win + 2, etc to switch between the desktops.
Since Windows 7 already have these keys already assigned to Taskbar item 1, Taskbar item 2, I am unable to use them for any other applications or settings.
I've tried searching the internet and this forum high and low and have found nothing (except for disabling the windows key, so please do n

I have to be cheeky to say this that when my colleagues look at my laptop screen, quite often they will surprise and captivated. Then such question will be ask, "what's OS is this?" "How you do it?"
Let me share my screen below:
It's just a normal windows 7!
First you download some amazing windows theme from the Microsoft sites. Then you right click your wallpaper, choose "Personalize" and select your favorite windows theme.
Right click again, and select "View" - "Show Desktop Icon" and remove all the ugly shortcuts from the wallpapers. For new era IT user, you really don't need those shortcuts. And for someone with som
