Windows 7 Computer Suddenly Can't See Computers on Network

When I tried to connect to my desktop computer from my Windows 7 Laptop, it doesn't see any other computers on the network but itself. I did check the firewall. I'm using McCafee Internet Security. It came with the laptop. I tried disabling the firewall, and I still couldn't see any of the computers on the network. When I go into McCafee and look at a network map, there it shows all the computers on the network. But when Looking at my network in windows, I don't see any other computers. I have tried to ping the computer on the network that I want to connect to and it times out. I checked the other computer, restarted it. Still nothing. Yesterday it was fine...today it can't see any of the other computers on the network.

Windows 7 Computer can't see or connect to other computers on network

The computer in question is a Dell Vostro 1500 laptop. It started out running Windows Vista Basic. It was later (a few years ago) upgraded to Windows Vista Business. It was subsequently upgraded to Windows 7 Pro.
The problem is that when connected to our wireless router, a Cisco Small Business RV 120W over the wireless network, I am unable to connect to other computers on the network running either Windows 7 (no Homegroups have been set up) or Windows XP Pro, with the exception of our file server which is running Windows Server 2003. However, when I disconnect from the router, and connect to our wireless access point (set up at the other end of the office to extend the wifi range) I am able to browse the network neighborhood and to con

Windows 7 computer can't see other networked computers

I've been banging my head on the wall for several days on this one. I did a lot of searches and tried numerous suggestions, but have had no luck as of yet.
My Windows 7 Ultimate x64 machine recently stopped being able to communicate with any other machines on the network. It can ping them by name, but can't browse to any shared folders or use any shared services. I do have one networked printer, but access was via http so it seems to work. The big problem is that I have some Windows XP machines that have shared folders and shared printers and I can not access them.
Here are the details of my setup.
- Linksys WRT54G router drives the internet (updated to latest firmware)
- Windows 7 Ultimate x64 machine plugged directly into WRT54G et

Windows 8 computers can't see Windows 7 computer on network
location:

I'll be goddamned if Microsoft still hasn't got their shit together with getting network sharing to work without having to bend over backwards.
I have a Windows 7 computer that can't be seen on the network by either of 2 computers running Windows 8. Network discovery is on on all 3 computers. All 3 computers can connect via HomeGroup. I've tried accessing the Windows 7 computer via \\computer_name as well as \\computer_ip. The C: drive on the Windows 7 computer is shared and Full/Read/Write access is enabled for "Everyone." All 3 computers are in the "WORKGROUP" Workgroup.
Any suggestions?

Hi,
I have the following problem/set up
(a) home network with 4 PCs running XP SP3, 1 running Windows 2000 and 1 (new) running Windows 7
(b) all the computers can see each other and access each other's files EXCEPT the Windows 7 PC
(c) all computers are on the same Workgroup (incl. the Windows 7 PC)
(d) all computers have firewall s/w (mixture of Panda, Norton and Trend Micro) - switching on/off makes no difference on the Windows 7 PC
(e) all computers have the same user account with the same password
(f) for all computers the IP address is fixed (e.g. 192.168.0.101 to 192.168.0.105) and the DNS is set to the same 192.168.0.1
Set-up on the Windows 7 PC:

Can't see Windows 8 Computer in HomeGroup on Windows 7 Computer
location:

I recently put Window 8 Pro on one of my computers. I still have one other Windows 7 Ultimate computer (both 64-bit). When I finished installing Windows 8, I grabbed the HomeGroup password from the Windows 7 computer and joined that HomeGroup. I got
no error messages. From the Windows 8 computer, I can see the Windows 7 computer in HomeGroup just fine. But, on the Windows 7 computer, the HomeGroup is empty.
Both user accounts have Administrator privileges. Both computers have network sharing on. They both belong to the same workgroup (WORKGROUP). The Windows 8 HomeGroup settings look like:

Hello all,
I have been fighting this issue for days now and am really getting pissed I haven't fixed it yet. By the way I have been doing this type of computer troubleshooting and maintenance for years.
Work Laptop Windows XP Pro (Wrokgroup) connected via wireless connection
Home Desktop Windows 7 Enterprise 32 bit (Workgroup) NOT IN A HOME GROUP
From my XP Laptop I can go to My Network Places and click on View Workgroup Computers and see my Win 7 Desktop. I can double click on the name of that computer and it prompts me for a name and password and I type in the user name and password for the account I use on the Win 7 desktop and I can see the folders I shared and can drag and drop folders with no problem,
From the Win 7 Desktop I
