Windows 7 cannot detect other computers in the network
location:
microsoft.com - date:
August 14, 2012
Original title: Windows 7 drops Network and cannot see other computers
Win 7 drops the Network and does not recover from seeing other computers on the Network. You have to reboot and recover the Network that way and not by releasing the network by command. The strange thing is that other computers can see the Win7 computer
on the Network, but the Win7 computers cannot see the Network.

Windows 7 cannot close some programs and freezes, task manager does not come up
location:
microsoft.com - date:
November 8, 2009
I just installed Windows 7. I use programs such as Firefox browser and notepad++. All of sudden computer freezes and I cannot close programs. When I press CTRL ALT DEL the task manager does not come up. It is like the task manager does not exist. I have
to "kill" my computer by pressing the power button for few seconds.
Also I noticed that it especially freezes when, for example, I try to scroll down the Firefox page.
In addition, while the non-Windows programs get freeze, the Windows still can close already opened folders. I mean it does not freeze 100%, just partially freezes.

Just purchased Windows 7 on-line. Attempting to download the files from the website (upgrade from windows vista home), I get a pop up window asking for a program to open .box files? Once the download completes, I click on it and It says it cannot find
the program to open the file. I get 2 options 1.) choose from a list or 2.) select a program from the web.
How do I fix this?

chkdsk /f
the type of the file system is NTFS.

Fax and Scan in Windows 7 - cannot connect to my fax modem
location:
microsoft.com - date:
November 24, 2010
Fax and Scan worked in Vista. Device Manager shows that modem (Dell Conexant D850 56K V.92 DFVc) is working and that it has the most current driver. I can successfully query the modem via the diagnostic tab but when I try to set up a fax account, I receive
a message: "An error occurred. Please try the operation later or contact your administrator." Any ideas on how to make this work?
Thanks!

Windows 7 Cannot Search For Updates Error 800B0100
location:
microsoft.com - date:
September 8, 2012
I just got a new PC, with Windows 7 Home Premium (64) SP1 pre-installed. I've had it for 4 days now and the second day I realized that it had done 0 windows updates. When I checked, I got an error "Windows could not search for new updates" Error code 800B0100.
On a brand new PC? This is absolutely maddening. (Probably worse, given the issues I had getting the thing in the first place. Between having to wait a year since my last computer croaked, then having the delivery woman bang around the package and having to
ship it back unopened, and wait for yet another one. Then FINALLY get it, and get it hooked up - run it for half an hour and the monitor dies. Argh! Now this?!)
I have done everything I can think of. I have tried every micro

Windows 7 cannot discover any bluetooth devices
location:
microsoft.com - date:
March 24, 2011
Just bought myself a small micro bluetooth dongle by Bluesoliel. As soon as I plug it into my hp g60 laptop, the drivers installed automatically for windows to work with it. However when attempting to discover devices, it finds nothing, without giving
any verification as to if it is actually searching or not. I try to right click on the little bluetooth icon on the taskbar to open settings, but nothing happens and there is no option to open bluetooth settings in the control panel, and the devices and printers
section eternally loads. I know the device works with the bluesoliel software it came with, even with a downloaded Toshiba stack trial. There is clearly an issue with the windows bluetooth stack that I need fixed, I need to use the
